Default Move "What's That Song?" to the wiki?

Ice suggested this and you know, I think this may be a good solution. It'd allow anyone to contribute and off-load the work from a couple users.

Then again, anyone could contribute, so we'd have to keep an eye on it.

Thoughts?

EDIT: We wouldn't have to loose the MP3 previews either as we could make them a template.

Yeah, I think they're too prone to inaccuracy if we rely on the wiki to create the listings.

I'll leave them here on the forums.

Yup, this is a good idea. I think WTS is perfectly suited to belong in the wiki.

Although, I think we just shove all of them into there, not just the completed ones. Is there any way you could force a "Not Confirmed" message when "regular" user enters a song name/preview that only an admin can remove?

it IS a good idea, its time these large amounts of data weren't kept on forums but rather the right storage medium, i.e. wiki

I would like to point out you are going to be changing something that is already working very well.

Only big problem with how it's organized now is that it is hard to find. Just look at all the locked threads asking about some specific music used in Top Gear.
Maybe a mix of the two, first use the forums to gather everything, and when it's all sorted add it to the wiki. In the meanwhile they could link to each other.

FWIW I'm with Quicky on this one - older/complete episodes should go up.

i'm going to have to agree with him. i think the system is alright , it's just a bit hard for new comers to find. i think you should ask the WTS admins, they'll have a real handle on how those threads should be managed

Until you guys decide. I added a tiny link which links to the corresponding WTS threads to each episode infobox on the wiki.

Thanks Derek... I was going to say that links to the WTS forum from wiki would be a good idea and help new users find us easier. Could we make the wiki song links more prominent though?

As it stands now, the WTS forum is working well and does not need to be moved to wiki. There are a lot of errors posted in the WTS forum, and by having it in the forums I am able confirm everything as 100% accurate before adding it to our lists.

I'll see what I can do. I also want to contact Viper, maybe it's possible to 'include' a forumpost to a wiki article. In that case it would be possible to include the first post of a specific episode WTS-thread that contains all in the information, and would still be possible to edit it via the forum.

Even though I rarely look at the listings and they are not bothering me in any way now I think the wiki is the right place for them.
Forums are for talking, Wiki is for static info.
