2009 Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix

if it rains, then IMO brawn is gonna be the biggest unknown quantity on the grid. their car is awesome in the dry, but i bet they have zero wet testing. if it rains, others will have a leg up on them i think.

ferrari arent that slow, they seem to have good race pace... neither slow nor fast.

Rain will make it very interesting. But not too much rain, then it'll be slow. Just enough rain for slippy slidey is fun :D

1. Who will take pole position and who will win the race?
I think we might be looking at a Button Pole & Victory again, however I wouldn't count Vettel & Kubica out of the fight.

2. Will Brawn GP maintain the dominant pace that they have shown in Australia?
Seems very likely.

3. Will the reliability bugbears keep tripping Ferrari up?
I wouldn't be surprised if one of the Ferrari's falls out again, one week might be a little short to sort out the bugs.

4. Which driver will be the first one to spin out of the race?
Piquet.

5. How many Safety Car interventions will be needed during this race?
If it stay's dry we might get away with no safety cars, if there's rain I'd guess 2.

6. How badly will this race be affected by rainfall?
Since the hour of day rain seems likely
But I'm not just worried about the rain. Even if it stays dry the teams will still be troubled by the lack of tracktemperature near the end of the race causing slower laps, except for the cars that manage to keep temperature in their tyres. Rain will only exacerbate this problem. I feel this might be quite a big factor in the closing stages of the race.

7. We've seen quite a lot of overtaking being done at Melbourne; do you think the trend will continue at Sepang?
There are quite a few opportunities to overtake at Sepang so I would think so.

Piquet.

7. We've seen quite a lot of overtaking being done at Melbourne; do you think the trend will continue at Sepang?
Sepang looks to be a wider track with more overtaking oppotunities per lap than Albert Park, so I expect even more passing.

Let the discussions begin!
  1. I'm picking Jenson on both accounts

Forecast says there is high probability of rain.

if it rains will be interesting to see the new cars struggling...

I forgot that vettel have the 10 position penalty :? but let's see what happen!

It has been raining quite a bit in this red dot lately... I'm assuming it's the same for Malaysia as well.

Well, it's still a week away, and weather is very chaotic, so it's too early to say it's 80%. But given my experience of Singapore and Malaysia, when it rain (and it does very often), it rains HARD
