Ownership Verified: '77 Zastava 101 "The Flying Shite"

Or buy a car for the next vid ;)

More then 11500 already...

I feel special that when I first watched it it had under 10 views.

Love the way it screamed around the track in 3rd gear and didn't explode, don't think my car would manage that!

There's only one way to find out...

My dad had a zastava 101 with the "big block" back in the day (late 70s). It was tuned and produced something like 100hp.

We need to talk to lp as he's the owner of the channel, I just have the password for it.

Edit: nearing 26k views.

My vote goes to keeping it bone stock looking but having it be a sleeper. As cool as it is, you can only have so much fun with 55 horsepower. Or is that part of the charm? Hmm.

Also I approved this post that was in moderation and is now back a page (but is new):

I am pretty sure that you will be topic for discussion on Serbian forums for couple of days :).

Keep original look and especially do the mechanics, you can find some spare parts on Serbian websites but unfortunately I don't know how looks the procedure and costs for sending those parts in the countries of E.U.

http://www.polovniautomobili.com/de...ords=zastava+101&city=Odaberi&city_distance=0 Here are some ads for spare parts

http://www.polovniautomobili.com/pu...alse&brand=215&model=2076&price_to=&tags=W10= Here you can see the price of used Zastava 101 in Serbia.

http://www.polovniautomobili.com/pu...eri&city_distance=0&country=RS&showoldnew=all And here is Zastava 128, the newer model.

In Serbia, Zastava 100 series cars had a nickname Stojadin, Kec and Skala. And yes, it was in production until 2008 year when Fiat bought most of the Zastava factory and stopped the producing of all Zastava automobile vehichles, including Skala, Yugo, Florida, etc. Today, in FAS (Fiat Automobili Srbija, ex Zastava) factory in Kragujevac, Fiat 500L is produced.

Three of those extender thingies and you can do any angle you want.

Joe found a link to a small article about the lap

http://ultimategarage.iz.rs/Blog_4.htm it's in Serbian but the part that got me was:

'The driver gave it his all to drive the lap as fast as possible, there was a lot of joy when he managed to get it into 4th gear'

Also, you are mentioned as the Finalgear TV crew!

 I was taking it easy, I should take it around stock again with functioning gears and less traffic (and functioning seatbelts) and really try to be fast to have a comparison for the laptime after the engine mods.

35000 views btw.

How in fuck does it have so many views?

The ad revenue from that video should go into the Zastava's sleeper mods

Yeah no, thats barely fuelmoney ;). You're overestimating that :D.

But the real question here, regarding the drivetrain: Will it LS?

I don't think that would fit. A 1.3 dual carbed engine (a contemporary setup btw), making 80 or so hp with a 5 speed gearbox from an uno would be the best bet.

Pretty much plug & play would be the X1/9's 85hp 1.5l unit, possibly with the tuned head and twin double weber carbs, which I have but probably want to use in the X1/9. Power would be around 100hp. Or a 1.3 Uno Turbo engine with mild tuning, around 110 - 120hp.

power to weight would be similar to the very first Lotus Elise's then ;)

I say yes to turbo!
