Went out with friends last night (one of them is on a temp leave from the Navy), after I got home I wasn't tired enough to sleep so I decided to whip something up. I guess in hindsight this wasn't just whipped up, took a good 30 minutes to get the batter mixed up and another 40 minutes to bake so I finished up after midnight

Anyway, I think it turned out pretty well. Tastes good, too.

Mmm, that does look good. But your cake has a hole in the middle, sir!

Mind if I ask the recipe?

Recipe came from the 75th anniversary edition of the Joy of Cooking cookbook. I will say though, I've used the generic store brand pre-made mixes in the box and they turn out just fine if you prep them exactly according to the box.

i FUCKING LOVE angelfood cake... it's so light and airy and good at soaking up glazes... +1 for you good sir

Some of the best food is prepared in the manner you describe - i.e. late at night after a good, fun, evening out - looks yummy.
