So, I will let Beni fill in the history of this car if he would like, but it has been his winter-beater for some years. He decided to get himself a new winter-beater and kindly offered to lend me the car until the MOT expires at the end of January!
The bonet was open and it is on the ramps at the back to checkout the dif bushings.
Proof!
At it's current home:

Being a winter beater, this car has a fair number of small issues that I will try and sort out at a minimum of cost over the next few weeks, first being the glove box latch/handle
The mechanism seems to work fine, the issue appears to be with this spring and it has been broken so it isn't long enough to apply tension. A replacement is ?15 or so on Ebay, I might get one I might not, undecided as you can get it to close and lock if you do it in a certain way.
Next up was the gear shift knob that likes to rotate around a lot.
As you can see it is a cheap one that uses pressure against the metal to hold itself in place - I think it's been there a while.
I put it back on after this (see proof pic) and now it doesn't move, but a permanent solution will need to be found eventually, but again I will see how I feel money wise next pay day
I also topped up the oil, it was nearly at minimum and I also topped up the coolant which was a bit low after we had to drain some out to do the timing belt change.
More updates to come with some better pics, maybe Beni will share the cars history whilst it has been with him!
