Assembly line videos

They put a lot of focus on A factory (body shop) and then suddenly poof the car was painted and in C factory (assembly). Poor B factory never gets any love. A lot of sort-of-plastic in that 7.

Companies always want to protect their paint processes. That and the less airborne contaminants introduced into the paint shop the better. I've been in many body shops and many assembly areas (I'm typing this sitting just yards away from the final assembly area at OAC - video below), and have yet to see a single paint shop in person.

I know, old paint shop employee. We lived in our own little smurf world (blue uniforms) and other people couldn't come in (unless they were Pinin bigshots). The contaminants isn't really an issue in reality, taking a forklift for a trip outside and back again introduced way more foreign objects than some camera people dressed in Tyvek would. Not to mention the maintenance staff who crawled around everywhere when stuff failed, they had to wear their uniforms and never bothered with the Tyvek. But contaminants is a good sweeping reason to not show your process. :)

The Mirai. Not sure if pre-production or really low volume but anyway, impressive tech. Ugly as sin packaging. Lots of pointing and calling in this video.

Alfa Romeo ARNA's road from design desk to promo pictures, including testing and assembly line. Too bad I don't understand any Italian.

The taillights of that Renault are really sweet.

"Triumph engines have earned a great reputation for reliability and performance".

I approve of the hoonage and general abuse in that video, you'd expect the cars to be rock solid after all that. Even the frontal crash tests looked pretty good.

Another old timey British video w/ studio and factory tour. This time Rover

Yes it's quite easy to see how Rover cars achieved their fame for reliability
I do like all the men in white coats doing things that men in white coats do

I wish our testers still wore white coats. Theres a photo somewhere of a 50s F-series truck jumping off a ramp with men in white coats standing around it.

Not much of an assembly line...
