The Lago Racing Lamborghini of Peter Kox/David Russell/Roger Lago broke the qualifying lap record as it blitzed the Mount Panorama circuit in the first practice for GT3 machinery at the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

The Lamborghini Gallardo, which has been reclassified as a Class B entry, posted a stunning 2m05.9377s time to break the qualifying lap record with David Russell at the wheel.

Maro Engel earned Erebus Motorsport second spot in the SLS AMG GT3 with a time 1.2 seconds slower than Russell. Nissan?s return to Mount Panorama has started promisingly with V8 Supercar star Rick Kelly posting the third fastest time overall.

David Russell set the fastest time during Friday morning practice at the Bathurst 12 Hour as a collision between two Ferraris shortened proceedings.

Argh I missed the start

Impressed with the live stream quality and of course the commentary by the Radio Lemans guys!

I watched the first 4 hours and now just the last 15 minutes since I just got up - that's unbelievable, after 12 hours the first four teams are inside of 10 seconds...

Great race, always amazing when a lengthy race ends with the top cars so close. Thought the safety car at the ~15 minute mark was going to ruin the race, glad it didn't.

And unlike Daytona, it wasn't a bogus caution for a car that had already rejoined the track by the time they threw the yellow, fluid on the racing line over the Mountain is a genuine reason for a yellow.

What a race, great result for Maranello Motorsport.

Lowndsey's and Salo's stints were amazing. The penalty for the pit board was complete bullshit, as was the safety car at the end. The car was way off the track and the fluids that spilled were mostly off the track and weren't even cleaned up.

SVG was amazing. The big farty brutes (aka Mercs) were so annoying but entertaining to watch as they would not give up.

The only conclusion I can draw from this race is...

... I have got to get myself to Bathurst in the not-too-distant future for one of the big races.

Can't seem to find any info, but what happened to the Mark Webber/Eric Bana entry?
Anyone know why they didn't end up competing?
Was rooting for SVG in the Mclaren, but a fantastic race none the less.

It was being discussed about more jokingly, but for 2015. Bana did race in a class B early-spec Gallardo GT3 and finished 11th (actually the only Lamborghini to finish the race in the end).

That was one of the best endurance races that I've seen in a long, long time. SVG was mental, and brilliant, but I'm glad it was the Ferrari that won. Given their links to Simonsen, it was a special victory.

Awesome race. Glad to see the prancing horse hold off the gullwings. Really bummed that the Daytona coupe retired with only a half hour to go.

Also, big props to the organizers for steaming the whole race live in great quality and having the replay up so quickly. Top notch production.

Truly a top notch organizer, something that all motorsports should look to copy.

Now that was truly great race
