930 is not a 911 generation number, it's strictly a 911 Turbo of that generation! You found 3 pictures of 930, but non-turbos didn't necessarily have a whale tail and wide wheel arches.

Strictly speaking 901 isn't valid either, it's just a name that the car had before it was renamed to 911. But I'm letting it slide because it was called 901 at the beginning and it's the same body type ;)

jesus... I can?t believe you?re the only one who caught that... look how many people voted for the 930...

901 is ok I suppose... the frenchies didn?t wanna let Porsche have it, but I think 911 is much nicer anyway...

I don't get it, a car that has had it's styling hardly changed maybe twice in it's life time gets a "best looking" thread? Whats next " whats better looking the Split window 63 or the 64+ Corvettes?"

Oh and you forgot the best one :

You know they look different. Similar, yes... but definately different.

930 is best, followed closley by the 901 and 997. The 993 is butt ugly.

Anything before the 993 is hideously mis-proportioned. The 993 and after are only slightly out of proportion. So I choose the Ferrari F355.

It's a toughy I chose the 993, in particular the GT2. But the 2.7 RS is a close, close second. And to all the 911 haters, you just have to accept it is an amazing car. Maybe you don't like it, but fuck you, we like it and it's a legendary automobile no matter how much you piss about it. I couldn't give a shit what you think.

930 for me, that thing was a beast.

Yes.

I'm surprised there isn't a "They all look the same" option  My vote would have to be for the 993. In turbo guise, it looks amazing! A proper looking porker, but then again the 997 is a bit more modern.

edit - Crap i forgot about the 930..... I wish I could change my vote...

"930" is catchier than saying "G, H, I, J (2.7 liter), K, L, M, A, B, C, D (3.0 liter), E, F, G, H, I, J K (3.2 liter) series, Type 930 Turbo (3.0, 3.3 liter)".

P.S. I voted for the 993. The pinnacle of the 911, in styling, tradition, and resulting performance. Last of the air-cooleds, but still new enough to be considered modern!

I like the 996 the best. It has kinda that touch of old school going on but still the overall shape of the new age.

Very nice.

993 or 996, especially in awesome GT2 mode!!!

Have to say 993, looks proper 911, and GT2 for sure

I'm missing a "they all look exactly the same" option :p :p

voted 997. It's the best mix of good old (930) and new.
The 996 was hideous

Well, if you want to be really german pedantic, it's:

0 (Zero) -series - 1963 - 1967 (2-liter NA engine)
A-series - 1967 - 1968 (2-liter NA engine)
B-series - 1968 - 1969 (2-liter NA engine)
C-series - 1969 - 1970 (2,2-liter NA engine)
D-series - 1970 - 1971 (2,2-liter NA engine)
E-series - 1971 - 1972 (2,4-liter NA engine)
F-series - 1972 - 1973 (2,4-liter NA engine, 2,7-liter NA Carrera RS)
G-series - 1973 - 1974 (2,4-liter NA engine)
H-series - 1974 - 1975 (2,7-liter NA engine, 3-liter Turbo)
I -series - 1975 - 1976 (2,7-liter NA engine, 3-liter Turbo)
J-series - 1976 - 1977 (2,7 and 3,0-liter NA engine, 3-liter Turbo)

SC (K and L-series) - 1977 - 1979 (3-liter NA engine, 3,3-liter Turbo)
SC (New A-series) - 1979 -1980 (3-liter NA engine, 3,3-liter Turbo)
SC (New B-series) - 1980 - 1981 (3-liter NA engine, 3,3-liter Turbo)
SC (New C-series) - 1981 - 1982 (3-liter NA engine, 3,3-liter Turbo)
SC (New D-series) - 1982 - 1983 (3-liter NA engine, 3,3-liter Turbo)

Carrera (New E-series) - 1983 - 1984 (3-liter and 3,2-liter NA engine, 3,3-liter Turbo)
Carrera (New F-series) - 1984 - 1985 (3,2-liter NA engine, 3,3-liter Turbo)
Carrera (New G-series) - 1985 - 1986 (3,2-liter NA engine, 3,3-liter Turbo)
Carrera (New H-series) - 1986 - 1987 (3,2-liter NA engine, 3,3-liter Turbo)
Carrera (New J-series) - 1987 - 1988 (3,2-liter NA engine, 3,3-liter Turbo)
Carrera (New K-series) - 1988 - 1989 (3,2-liter NA engine, 3,3-liter Turbo)

I usually refer to all 911s from 0-series to the G-series as 901 body style, then from there on I just use 930 (optionally SC or Carrera if I know) for everything after to the last Carrera of 1989. 930 doesn't always designate a Turbo though, only a body style (flared wheel arches and whale tail wing) for instance all of the 911 Speedsters (not the 964s, obviously) made were 930 bodied, and the "Turbo look" (wide arches and whale tail wing w/o intercooler box) is also a common sight, as that, if my memory serves me correctly, was a factory option on the SC for a while.

The 2.7 RS, without a doubt in my mind...followed by the 997 GT3.
