Is the 2010 Camaro coming to Australia? Well, we?ve been asking that for years now and eagerly awaiting an answer, and these pictures snapped a few weeks ago on the Melbourne streets certainly gave us some hope. But now though we?ve been let down. Kicked to the ground, so to speak. GM has just announced that there will be no production RHD versions, and the Camaro will be staying with the lefties.

The news came just before its hopeful debut at the Melbourne motor show. People were already speculating whether it would bare a Holden badge or the traditional Chevy. However even this talk was based on assumption as there were never any confirmations of the Camaro in Australia. They did however confirm RHD?s throughout the European market, and now have had to renege.

Perhaps you haven?t heard that GM?s been in a bit of a financial mess, and they claim that this is the reason for their decision. There is hope still to the Brits though. Last year GM confirmed 600 right-handed models to be going to the UK, but they?ve just announced that they?re downsizing and downgrading this to 100 left-handed models, 50 coups and 50 cabs. Just enough to dodge the type-approval regulations.

Contrary to Chevrolet?s recent green talk, they thankfully haven?t gone cheap on the power. There aren?t any of the speculated V6?s here. They will though be limiting sales to just one engine, a more-than-substantial 6.2 Liter V8, with 422 horses.

If photographers can be trusted, it certainly packs a punch. The bloke behind this camera said when the drivers spotted him, the car leaped off the line, the back dipped and the nose jumped up as though to eat anything in its path. This probably isn?t the best sign from a modern supercar, but it certainly shows it?s a true Camaro. As for the sound, two words explain it all. Aural ecstasy.

So it all sounds good then and the Camaro should live up to its expectations. And we wont be getting it?..Plucky Brits.

Bit of a shame
but some are bound to find their way over here and get converted.

That sucks, but I wouldn't be surprised if it got canned in favour of an upcoming monaro or torana.

Test mule. You're allowed to for testing only.

I'm beginning to wonder if the Camaro will make it to dealers at all...

:p:p:p

That's for hogging all the good GM cars over the last 15 years. And if this applies to the UK as well...its for not sending TVR over.

General Motors really grinds my gears.

They can't do a RHD Camaro but they seem to have no problem with foisting RHD versions of the Barina, Viva and Epica :puke: on us.
