I joined the other day and started posting without an issue. Now I'm being told my posts have to be checked by a mod. Why? This would make sense if you had a policy of checking out new members posts for a while and mod checking started from my first post, but why the hell now after multiple posts?

Anyway, welcome to Finalgear. :D
This.

Also so I have reported your post to bring the question to mod attention and I am sure they will reply and clear it up for you.

You must have missed the message earlier, or the notification isn't working correctly.

All users with less than 5 posts get their posts sent to the moderation queue if the post contains certain keywords or a URL. We do this to prevent spam from making it through to the forums.

You're now at 6 posts so the message should have gone away.
