They don't, still... They will deteriorate before they get to break even point, that has been the biggest problem with them. Unless you mean 24/7 sunlight, but its not really useful.
http://www.energybulletin.net/node/17219 states loads of studies ranging from under one year (yeah, right) to 25 years. Most estimates are single-digit years. Solar cells do survive for that long
As an example of longevity, German manufacturer Q-Cells gives you a 25-year warranty for 80% of the designed power and a 10-year warranty for 90% of the designed power. In other words, they expect their cells to have above 80% power after 25 years - if a solar cell amortizes itself in terms of energy after 5 years for example you can expect five times the energy or more out of it. Even at 80% power after 25 years it still is contributing a lot towards its total energy production.
