DiRT 3

This game is going to be amazing, can't wait for Tuesday!

I think it might be exactly what I wanted: The rally focus and car selection of DiRT with the graphics, better physics and atmosphere of DiRT 2.

I started over and beat DiRT 2 over the past couple of weeks and I finally remembered how much I missed the wider variety of cars in DiRT 1, namely the semi-truck Pike's Peak hillclimb stuff. I had soooo much fun with that.

I doubt DiRT 3 will have that fun unusual stuff though, but at least it won't be full of X Games crap.

agree, Dirt 2 got boring and repetitive on all but the Trailblazer events, since those were truly fun to do, overpowered cars and long winding tracks, Dirt 1 was more fun cause it was more rally and less pandering, they should've called dirt 2 "a ken block video with controllers"

Yeah, another thing worth noting is how DiRT 2 didn't really have very many rally stages. They were all very, very well done but it was three stages that were all the same thing; One of the first half, one of the second half, and one of the entire stage. That always bothered me.

 I just did the same thing with the first DiRT. I forgot how much I loved throwing around an Impreza in the Crossover events.

Amazon hasn't shipped DiRT 3 yet, I guess they wait until the day before and then ship it out overnight?

Installed DiRT 1 again and... wow. After playing DiRT 2 so much lately, DiRT 1 graphics and driving-on-rails physics are quite a change. It'll be interesting to compare 3 to 2 after having played 2 so much.

Unless you payed for overnight, expect to get it a few days after release probably.

One of the many, many reasons I almost never buy hard copies anymore. I bought DiRT 3 off Steam and already have the full game sitting on my PC ready to go for when it unlocks on Tuesday. :)

I paid for day-of-release delivery. They must have more control sending it out overnight rather than normal shipping where they chance it being delivered either a day early or a day late.

Found some deflating news... The Mk2 Escort, Monte Carlo (Col De Turini), Peugeot 205 and Lancia S4 won't be available at release and will probably be in seperate DLC packs.

Yeah if you have release-date delivery, it will probably go out late tonight. I used to order a lot of stuff with prime and most of it was overnighted Monday.

The announcement of 4 DLC packs before the game is out is a bit more deflating

"Let's sell them half a game for the same price as before, and then sell them the other half later for even more money"

Sadly that practice is getting more and more common... I think it's an abuse of trust between the publishers and the costumers.

I'm now completely on the fence about buying this. :(

I would love the gameplay but I am totally against paying for half the game in DLC and crap.
So fucking sick of that shit, just makes it 50% more likely I'll run away to "places" on the internet when I can "acquire" the FULL content for "considerably less" money. <_<

I'm not even being greedy, I just want the FULL game, the one that was advertised with ALL the content, the one they were selling me.

What I do in these cases is wait for a bundle to show up in a Steam sale, or some other similar deal.

Aye, just irritating it was a game I was looking forward to and inevitably there won't be any decent deals for a couple of months at least.

Also does this single use code apply to PC users too, or through Steam? Does it mean that when I replace or re-format my hard drive I have to re-buy the game as I've already used the code?

Because if so I'm just not going to buy it.

I would assume you can transfer it in some way, I mean, what if your PS3 dies (<_<). Such a thing would normally be tied to your account after activation but it would be good to verify.

Yeah, they ship it early then.

Steam has pushed the release date forward. So now it's about 5 hours to release instead of 1 day.

I see 9 hours here meaning likely midnight EST.

Guess it's based on that regions Midnight. Only 2 hours till midnight here, but it's showing aproximatly 1 hour to go. So it either unlocks at 11pm UK for me, or the Steam countdown is weird in showing 1 Hour 59 Mins as aproximatly 1 hour.
