DPI Tutorial #1 - Handheld panning

Need help in perfecting some shots....

When the car is relatively close to you, the clarity is sharp on one part of the car, but not the other. Some examples...

Thing that bugs me is that sometimes my shots come perfectly without blur, so i dont know what I am doing wrong...:(

Yeh turning focal plane is a bitch, but it can be used to get some cool effects on low shutters speeds!

I NEED MORE EVENTS AROUND ME :cry::cry::cry:

Were you in Hockenheim last saturday? YOu could have made plenty of good shots ;)

I couldnt manage to find a ride and then I couldnt be bothered to find a train. So I improvised on my uni campus :)

THe best advice I ever received on panning was from Ross on Doristars ...

The quote was in relation to motorbike sport photography ...

"It ain't sharp enough until you can see the stitches in the leather ..."

/Makes a mental note.

I am gonna be at Hockenheimring tomorrow. Anyone else?

Pan-o-vision is what I <3 most in photography.... PS am I the only one who uses manual focus rather than AF in my pans? I don't know if I could trust my AF to keep up in burst mode.

All at 1/40... brave shutter speed but it means i don't get many keepers.
