EPL 2012/13 Thread - The English Premier League

Saturday 2nd March 2013

Wigan 0-4 Liverpool
Chelsea 1-0 West Brom
Everton 3-1 Reading
Man Utd 4-0 Norwich

Southampton 1-2 QPR
Stoke 0-1 West Ham
Sunderland 2-2 Fulham
Swansea 1-0 Newcastle

* * *

Very important away win for QPR, if they want to stay in the EPL next year. All other teams in the bottom lost, now Harry has 10 games left and must WIN at least five of them. Look unlikely to me, but ya never know.

Alan Pardue was moning about the result at Swansea, he thought Newcastle were the better team on the day.

Chelsea fans not booing Rafa so much yesterday, who played much better that the score suggests.

Nice wins for Everton, Liverpool and Man U as well, making the race for UCL places very interesting.

EDIT:

Sunday 3rd March 2013

Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal

Sigh.....Chelsea bumped to 4th, and to Tottenham no less.

Roman Abramovich needs to be less capricious to end this merry go round of coaches.

Saturday 9th March 2013

Norwich 0-0 Southampton
QPR 3-1 Sunderland
Reading 1-2 Aston Villa
West Brom 2-1 Swansea

Swansea WERE robbed by the match officials of an equalising goal being chalked off. It could not be offside, the ball hit TWO WBA players first.
Never seen a decision like that given, really strange.

And, whisper it quietly, but QPR won again. They aren't getting out of the basement, surely? (I don't think Wigan will get relegated, well they might.)

Sunday 10th March 2013

Liverpool 3-2 Tottenham
Newcastle 2-1 Stoke

Liverpool look a real team now, gave Spurs a good game and kept Bale pretty quiet. (A few industrial sytle tackles, incuded.) Apparently, this is the first Liverpool win over one of the top teams. Spurs were better in the secvond half and it took a late pen from Gerrard to win it. If they can maintain consistancy, they could have a strong finish to the season. Currently up to 6th, above Everton now. LOL

Stoke could have something out of the game, a bit unlucky. So long as they win at home they should be OK.

Saturday 16th March 2013

Man Utd 1-0 Reading
Aston Villa 3-2 QPR
Southampton 3-1 Liverpool
Stoke 0-0 West Brom

Swansea 0-2 Arsenal
Everton 2-0 Man City

Sunday 17th March 2013

Chelsea 2-0 West Ham
Wigan 2-1 Newcastle
Tottenham 0-1 Fulham
Sunderland 1-1 Norwich

Man U looks likely now to win the title, just as Reading and probably QPR will be relegated.

Too early to call the rest, last to UCL places from Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea.
Final relegation place could be any from 6 or 7 teams.

I don't get Liverpools consistency. One game they're playing great football, and then they go ahead and lose 3-1 against Southampton.

No, neither fo I. Carragher wasn't playing, so maybe they were not as organised at the back.
But it can't be that alone, surely?

Dunno, no understandee, but I hope Brendan Rodgers does.

Sunday 31st March 2013

Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool

Saturday 30th March 2013

Everton 1-0 Stoke
Arsenal 4-1 Reading
Man City 4-0 Newcastle
Southampton 2-1 Chelsea

Swansea 1-2 Tottenham
West Ham 3-1 West Brom
Wigan 1-0 Norwich
Sunderland 0-1 Man Utd

All of the top seven clubs won, except Chelsea who were beaten by the Saints.
Chelsea were probably a bit distracted by the FA Cup replay tommorrow against Man U. Southampton continue to play good, attractive football under their new coach and deserved the win.

And Wigan are OUT of the relegation zone, looking to pull off thier end-of-season escape bid, now a tradition with them it seems. If they do escape, then Sunderland and Villa are the most likely candidates to join QPR & Reading.

Fulham vs. QPR is to be played Monday.

News

And, speaking of the Black Cats, Paolo has been brought in to replace Martin O'Neil who was sacked yesterday.

Paolo Di Canio appointed Sunderland head coach - BBC Sport

WTF is the point in sacking a manager 8 games before the end of the season?:/

But they are not the only ones that have done it over the years. Many clubs have sacked their managers just a few games before the end of the season and as far as I know, none have managed to turn things around. They have all relegated

Monday 1st April 2013

Fulham 3-2 QPR

Now, that ain't good for QPR, this would have been marked as a "winnable" game, however Fulham have steadied themselves and are playing good at the moment. Fulham are now safe and are in 10th place.

True, it does not usually do any good. Reading did it recently as well, probably seals their fate for relegation.

Wins for Newcastle & Villa, take them away frong the drop-zone, fantastic goal scored by Villa. Also, great goal by Remy of QPR, who only gort a draw though. Wigan are playing well & looking good, but Stoke and Sunderland have bot hit a bad patch at the wrong time.

Spurs just blinked, in the race for the last two UCL spots, with no Bale for the rest of the season.

Small comfort for Man City tonight.

Arsenal 0-0 Everton

A bit of a crap result for both teams, though better than losing.
Much better news for Spurs and Chelsea, in the race for UCL places 3 and 4.

Must say that West Ham played a dirty game today and the ref was very weak. I am dissapointed

Wednesday 17th April 2013

Fulham 0-3 Chelsea
Man City 1-0 Wigan
West Ham 2-2 Man Utd

A good win for Chelsea, against the local rivals.

Wigan probably didn't mark this game as one they could win.

Must say that West Ham played a dirty game today and the ref was very weak. I am dissapointed

Didn't see the game, I was out. Dunno why West Ham would play that way, they are mid-table and safe, not their usual place for end of season. Maybe Fat Sam just said go out and play a bit rough against the next champs. :?

OK, when you are in the bottom three positions of the league, the last thing you want is to loose a game and all the other teams just above you geet point. That is what happened yesterday to Reading, QPR and Wigan, where all bar Newcastle won their games. A double whammy, to be sure.

Ooooh, Man City lost today and I think that means that Man U can win the EPL tommorow if they beat the Villa on Monday which they probably will.

And that Chelsea draw is a very good result for Arsenal.

almost seven minutes into overtime, you gotta be fucking kidding! Suarez should have had the red card, he is more beast than man!

Just watched the highlights show on TV.

The Suarez biting incident was unbelieveable!

It will go on the list of "Ten Mad Things That Have Ever Happened In a Football Match":

Zidane headbutt during the World Cup Final
Cantona flying kick into the crowd (9 Month Ban)
The German player spitting (Voller?) in the World Cup
etc.

He will be banned by the FA.

EDIT Monday:

Monday 22nd April 2013

Man Utd 3-0 Aston Villa
Man Utd are Champions

Well done Sir Alex & Team!
