I wanted a place where bikers could come and discuss and give advice.

I have been riding for about 9 months now and want to upgrade. I have been riding a 07 Raleigh Mojave 2.0. Lately I have defiantly been pushing it past what is was designed for. I want to upgrade with in the month and have really been looking at an '08 Specialized Rockhopper Disc . Recently I have come across the Woodstock 707 and now I am not sure as to what i should do.

The Rockhopper is $650 and the Woodstock is $700
The Rockhopper is front suspension and the Woodstock is full suspension
I can test the Rockhopper for fit before I buy and then I get free tuneups and adjustments if I buy from the the local bike store.

If I get the Woodstock i get what I get and thats it.

I'll stick up a picture either tomorrow or over the weekend. No point sticking a stock picture up as it's such a mix. As a basic rundown it has.

2005 Marin Palisades Trail frame.
2004 Marzocchi MX Comp Air
2005 Truvativ Hussefelt Cranks
Race Face BB of some form
Middleburn front ring (I think 42t)
DMR Chain Cage
LX Cassette
Deore Rear Derailleur
Deore Disc Hubs with Mavix EX721 Rims
Hope Mini Front Brake
Hope Mono Mini Rear Brake
DMR V8 pedals.

Can't remember the rest of the stuff to be perfectly honest, it's far too long since I last rode it. Must be about ?1,000 in the bike.

I also have a cheapo road bike that I bought for about ?100. It's a Falcon Corsa and I've just stuck some SPuDs on it and put Michelin Carbon(?) tyres on.

My "meh" old-ish (got it like 6 or 7 years ago I think) mountain bike:

Everything on it is aluminum, 27 speed, etc. so I guess I can't complain that much. I can pick it up with just my pinky, heh.

I really wish it had rear suspension though, but then again, I ride it once or twice a year these days, so oh well.

I live in San Diego and later I found out that many believe that it is Mecca for Mountain biking. But every where I turn there are really good single track trails. I mean everywhere. I can ride my bike to 3 with in 5 mins from my house. Then when I went up to school in LA after the summer was up and i could not find any single track all i find are fire roads and they are far and few between. If i want to really go riding I have to drive at least an hour to get anywhere really good. I really feel sorry for the people who live in these places where there are no good trails. It really makes riding a task instead of the joy that it is to me and so many others.

A bicycle and recycling bin in the same photo? Kind of stereotypical don't you think? :p

 Well I do live in Portland which is the biking capital of North America as well as the recycling one probably (every house gets 2 of those bins).

I have a Diamondback Sorrento mountain bike which I hardly have the time for these days, and a Trek roadie decked out in the old US Postal livery of Lance Armstrong's old cycling team. I cant tell you whether it's any good because I know little about them, but it was my brothers and he tends to buy only the best.

Apart from that, I race these puppies which is a human powered vehicle (glorified tricycle) in events around Australia. Its good fun but very tiring. The vehicle below (the one we raced to 6th overall at the Wonthaggi 24 hour enduro) has a coreflute body shell, but I've seen carbon fibre and fiberglass used as well. Good ones can maintain a speed of about 50kph on the flat, and I've seen them reach speeds of up to 120kph. They're not slow.

We're probably going to sell our motorbikes so that we can get better mountain bikes.

I have road bike, but I don't ever ride it to save the earth, its just a tool that keeps me in shape, and to make sure I never ride it to go anywhere just for exercise I just have a cheap trek, shes fast but I look super gay riding so I guess its a pay off. Its fun though when its wet to lock the front brake and burn out.

old Saab 9-3 coup?
I've a free "town bike" - a one-geared wonder with stereotypical basket. It's free though (to hire from the council for 12 months), gets me to point A to point B in this stupidly flat city so I'm not complaining hugely.

What annoyed me though was yesterday I saw an awesome-looking mountain bike in the supermarket for ?99.99 yesterday - about ?60. Had 27 gears, front and rear suspension and looked awesome. I just can't justify it now I have a bike, though :(

I got my old old old bike from the storage and went to school for a few times and then one day to my horror I noticed my undies were all stinky and brown. I just drive now.
