IndyCar legend Dario Franchitti retires from racing

hree-time Indianapolis 500 winner and four-time IndyCar Series champion Dario Franchitti announced via a statement released by his longtime team, Target Chip Ganassi Racing, that he will be unable to continue his auto racing career as a result of the injuries he suffered in a crash in the Grand Prix of Houston last month. The IndyCar Series legend ends his career with 31 Indy car wins (tied for eighth on the all-time list) and 33 poles (sixth on the all-time list).

After 4 championships, 3 Indy wins, 30 years of racing, I think coming out of that crash relatively unharmed at 40 years old, was enough for Dario. Even if the doctors cleared him, I think that would have been the right decision.
 
No, Dario did not get the Divorce finalized.. They are now back together after the accident. Reportedly since the wreck at Houston they have talked and decided to continue the marriage.
 
Well, it's not like his career was cut short - 40 is a bloody good run for a racing driver, and it's not like he under-achieved either.
If he can walk away from IndyCar alive and healthy at that age and married, sounds like a good deal.
