Is it wrong to like Wagons/Estates?

Honda Civic Wagon / WagoVan
Tons of space + >30mpg + optional 4wd =

I owned a pristine example for a couple of years and it was the best car I've ever had. Sure, it was embarrassingly slow (my friends reminded me daily), but I loved that little car. My wagon had 4wd, so winter driving was a breeze.....overtaking SUVs during a blizzard in a Japanese econo-box is amusing.

Hey, where's the love for the big land yachts of the 60s, 70s and 80s? Back when station wagons were the icons of the typical family. Sure, they're not fast, and for the most part didn't look good, but you still have lots of great memories of your first vacation to Banff riding backwards in the seats in the very back. Good times. :D (Well, except for the evitable siblings picking on me and each other on the way there :( )

Im sorry but what is the phallic connotation? I think that wagons are extremely more tasteful than say a SUV. I see more SUV?s that make the driver look like a tool than a wagon does.

PS that Speed show that JC did imply that more test pilots and race car drivers drove Volvo Wagons and ate oatmeal plain.

Audi RS4/6 Avant - enough said.

Wagons that are styled well can look great and have space for a heap of stuff, so it's all good. However when they just stick a box on the back of a sedan...

What is it with American wagons and the big slab of wood down the side?

My first car was a wagon, and although it was slow and ugly (1988 Nissan Pintara, basically an R31 Skyline wagon), it was alright. I could imagine an R31 wagon with the GTS-R engine in it, though (RB20DET-R, i think).

I do have to admit that I do like many small quick wagons, though.

Yes, wagons happen to kick a** in my book. 8)

I just think it's awesome driving away from a light next to an old turbo intercooled Volvo and hearing that Turbo whine under the hood. I don't know why but that always makes me happy.

Couldn't agree more.

Wagons are cool. Especially since i own one as well (volvo at that). Anybody that says otherwise is just wrong.

t's funny you say that, because that car is essentially a Chrylser 300 with a Dodge Grill and a.... box on the back.
Nope, that's exactly that it is ;)

300(C) = Magnum = Charger. Maybe some suspension differences between the three, but that's about it.

I think it would be pretty cool to show up to the supermarket with this and then rally back to your house.

I saw a Magnum in my rear view mirror today and it did look pretty imposing

There's a big wagon tuning scene in Japan. Personally I want a WRX wagon, as it's only 50lbs heavier than the normal one and all the same parts apply.

quite right. I watched a show where the swapped the Magnum front bodywork with a Chrysler 300's. It was as easy as unbolting the panels and swapping them.

That's what they get in Europe. Of course, in America you have to do it yourself, testifying to our proud ingenuity and good ol' hands-on American spirit...that, or they're too lazy to give it to us. :p
