Land Rover Defender becomes the 3'rd car ever to fail the Moose-test

is this the new one or the old one, because some parts have been updated for the newest model. compard to some modern cars i guess the defender does have bad brakes and steering. and at least the people in that one would be fine, could just flip it back onto it's wheels and drive away. would need a winch though, and a new door mirror...

It's the new one, that's why AMS was so curious about it. Everybody knows that the Defender would fail the test, their point was to question why Land Rover didn't equip it with ESP which would've prevented it from flipping over. (German motor journalists are pretty ESP-hysteric!)

I just read yesterday in the latest issue of AMS that Land Rover handed over sales argumentations to their dealers which are basically saying that the tests have been done in an unapproved method as the Defender was driven in 5th and not 6th gear (it's a standard test that has to be done in highest gear but at the same time with a certain figure of rpm which was the reason for putting it in 5th) nad therfore wasn't able to pass the test. AMS already offered to repeat the test under the conditions that Land Rover proposed...

Again: the whole point of the test was to question why with all the modifications done to the Landy they weren't able to equip it with an ESP system.
