Ok, first off I have to say he glorifies our country in this segment of the film, but every fact stated in this clip is in fact 100% true. But Norway has it's darker sides as well, but to include that here - would not make his arguments believable.. he angles it the way he wants, to make the viewer left but no choice other than to agree.

So, is NORWAY the greatest country to live in - in the whole world? Or are the UN and M.Moore wrong?

Start the debate!

The UN might be right.. But More is an leftist Asshole who talks thru his Ass. But he is a great Movie Director and makes interesting, watchable movies.
So dont fee so good if More declares your nation the greatest... I wonder if he would like paying your taxes with the money he makes/made.

Meh, Moore isn't known for telling the whole truth. Although I'd like to visit some day, seems like a nice place.

I'm gonna kick back and watch... I don't know enough about Norway (hell I didn't know where it actually was until I started talking to members on this forum).

Anyone mind giving us the other side of the story, I know there is plenty missing?

After spending 3 weeks in Norway in Feb 2006 and speaking to some people from various Government departments and also citizens using the system, I can safely say that yes, Norway is an absolute oasis. Sure, taxes are high, but those high taxes translate into the high level of education, health care and other vitally important things on offer to the wonderful Norwegian population.

Norway FTMFW.

/The women are absolutely stunning as well. +1 to Norway.

Of course no place is perfect, but life in Norway for the average norwegian is very good. You have everything you need, and can afford most of the things you want.

As he mentiones, there is very little crime, salaries are high, unemployment low etc etc. In Oslo there is easier to see the bad stuff, drug addicts, and hookers and homeless people are very common in some parts of the city.

I have lived in Norway, but I find it too cold....:)

I must say people here know a lot more about Norway than I would first think!
I have been around the world, lived in the US, England and Spain - and Norway is still the place for me. But I'm biased cuz I'm so used to everything.. But I think some ppl, especially americans, might look at us as liberal. As for ourselves, we think we are conservative. Btw, I just thought of one thing - Thailand is of course the best place on earth, sure it is a third world country, thing takes time, but hell - it's paradise!! Been once, going back in march for 3 weeks, to visit my dad who has moved there with his thai wife. Some pics that he sent me:

first off his new car, costs next to nothing, Toyota Fortuner, built in China, not the Japanese build quality you get when buying a new Toyota from you local dealer AT ALL

Wait... how the hell did the OP derail his own Norway thread into a thread on Thailand?

Get back on topic!

OT: I've heard labor rates are disturbingly cheap there, along with Japanese spare parts, hence their affinity for swaping Toyota turbo engines into just about anything.

What would it cost to ship a car over apply for citizenship? Do I have to pass emissions?

Labor rates are cheap yes, and all car parts are toll free. I use www.cbperformance.com and www.cip1.com alle the time.

He didn't get his title for nothing you know :p

And yes, from what i can see, Norway is a great place to live. should be better than .nl, with our mass muslim-hysteria and muslim-bashing politicians who seem surprised that muslims don't like it when they're portrayed as goatfucking bomb-slingers who will stop at mothing to enslave us all.

Norway is great country to have your Kids go to School, have your well-paid Job, your social securities covered ... and it?s a beautifull country, stunning nature and so so far as I can tell with very limted experiences to nowegians ... nice, friendly People. Sadly, even comared to Germany your Winters are long and dark. And I couldn?t live with that ... I?d rather stick to Germany with it?s not so good schools, it?s no more so good social-securities, it?s no more that good paychecks, and it?s ever unhappy citizens ... and not wanting to kill myself in your never-ending winter ...

(of course I know norway?s not all dark in winter, only the north is ... but it?s a lot less "day" than here all over the place)

Well, I don't think high taxes are a bad thing IF they are properly used. Brazilians pay an average of 32% of they salaries in taxes but all basic services suck, so we must pay for health, safety and education....<_<
