Misleading ads on the main page

I donated. It sucks that the new ad folks were slimeballs. Sucks harder that Google just walked off the job and won't say why.

Supposedly an adult violation (something NSFW-ish in the forums?) and we had 3 days to remove it however they never sent a notification of a violation so we weren't able to take action in time. Google has non-existent human support so it's impossible to try and get it resolved (the domain is blacklisted). :(

Did you still run the ads for non-members on the forum? But still, they couldn't access the NSFW section.

We currently run no ads at all because Google blacklisted our domain (see my above post). Once we found out it was an "adult violation", we immediately removed all ads from the forums (previously shown to guests).

We were trying out adBrite as a replacement on the main site but some bad ads got served instead. :(

You can always sell a book from posts culled from the NSFW section. :p

Great question, but Google won't respond to our requests for information.

sounds familiar.. I've been through the same crap on my site. The ads were taken down by google with no explanation, and they won't respond. Good times...

What business is it of theirs what the content is? Are they setting themselves up as censors as well, now?

Most people who buy advertisements through Adwords (the advertiser end of AdSense) don't want their ads shown along side adult content (porn, etc.).

I asked this before but I don't remember if I received a response or not, but what about selling posters as well as t-shirts?

We have some talented designers on the forum, I'd say just open it up and see what happens. Many of the T-shirt designs would be easily adapted to make great posters - especially the Scandinavian Flick.

Let's just see what members come up with. It's still a donation of time, talent and the design itself since they don't get any royalties from it. I think most of us like giving back to the site to keep it running and up to date.

Ooh posters, I'll have to start thinking. I'm more than happy to help out through something like this or I'll make a cash donation, FG has been a big enough part of my life for the last 5 and a half years to make it worth it. :)

Anyone interested in purchasing a test-print from an on-demand store before we proceed further with this merchant? I have "Some Say", "Utter Pirates", and "I was the stig" available. This would be a YMMV purchase, as you would be the product tester.

I would sacrifice a goat to you and your god(s?) if your "meanwhile in UKania" picture became a poster. :p

Hi Viper,

I would suggest you put the donate button and leave it there along with the ads, this:
1) Keeps Donations coming in as people can afford.
2) Keeps ad revenue going.
3) Even if its excessive, it will come in handy for rainy days like now.

and p.s. your not the only person who has the Google Ad blues...

I had forgotten about that. Now you've reminded me I have some tweaks in mind to make it fit for a poster/shirt though, involving Morris Marinas no less. Maybe we should move this to the Merchandise thread. :)

I'd like see what the prices are for test prints, don't really want to pay too much for shipping over here initially. :)

Oh and in the meantime while no ads are up, the spaces need to be filled with adverts for other 'products'.

I would like to see another run of vinyl stickers. One I put on the XTerra was lost with the front windscreen and I'd like a small one for the motorcycle.

or Pick a Country, then put /finalgear after the domain. The "storefront" is pretty basic at the moment, as I have not had the time to properly set it up.

Please keep in mind that we have NOT verified how well the designs print, so Your Mileage May Vary. And if someone does want to test it, please post a couple photos and let us know how they turn out. If they turn out pretty well, I will put the rest of our back catalog up for ordering(Yes, every FG shirt design we've sold).

To see the "Some Say" design, you need to have a registered account and have your filters set to PG-13+ due to it having mild language.
