We just go by the cars first registration, like the rest of Europe I presume? If it was first registered in December 2011 it's a 2011 car, simple as that.

If a model gets an update or facelift it will just be sold as the facelifted Fiesta. In the case of the Golf I don't even think it's common here to use the Mk#. It's just the new Golf.

I tried configuring one earlier today....the color pallete has indeed shrunk considerably and one can't get a Cornsilk Beige interior on any trim, not even TDI, so clearly there's changeover happening.
You're not actually configuring a car, you're operating a pretty search tool for the VWofA stockpile. In order to actually configure a Golf you need to go here: http://www.volkswagen.de/de/CC5.html

No ordinary person looking for a car is going to visit a website that they likely cant read to build a car that they cant legally and logistically purchase. :eyeroll: :p

It's a tangly subject this. Mine is a MY 2007.5 Astra H Facelift built on 2007-03-15 first registered in traffic on 2007-09-28. According to the registry I am the second owner and the previous owners were four dealerships. Perfectly simple! :p

If you go to the showroom you'll find both vehicle year and model year advertised.

They belong to the same parent company and it appears the branches "sold" it to themselves after one day. Thus three of the companies can record a sale and put in their Excel sheet and show GM how good they are at selling cars! ;)
