Yes, you guessed that right, it'a W124 (I would've preferred one of it's older brothers, but theres still hope)

With the reasonably 220E

It even has the original becker radio + automatic AC :D

and all this luxury i got for 1600? with new T?V. Altough some things on it are broken, to be precice all the lights in the dashboard quit working and the idiot who installed the new windscreen fucked up and dropped several clips and bolts into the squirrel cage... which i already removed but 4 hours of taking apart and putting back together are too much work for someone elses idiocy<_<

oh and here's proof:

first MX5s, and now W1xx benzes are the new finalgear meme,

Good stuff, and looks good for a 15+ year old car, apart from the electrics

oh yes i forgot: its 3 days older than me, what a coincidence

Thx, i think any other brand with 270k km on the clock wouldnt look as clean as this does :) (other than some rust)

also on the w1xx front i'm thinking of getting a w123 as a project... :p

looks great, wish I had the option of a manual trans in my Merc. only thing I'd change on your car are the rims haha, get some AMG's.

and don't all you guys have Mercs or BMWs in Germany?

I think they're a bit more "ordinary" than in the US, as they're pretty common on the roads. But they also really are more ordinary, as you can see from the fact that we get models like the BMW 316s or 518s, which would be inconceivable for a premium brand in the US market.
But they're definitely not so common that everyone would have one, especially for young people getting a first car small hatchbacks - Fiesta, Twingo, Polo etc. - are the usual choice.

Too bad it isn't a dog leg y0. :p

Good car.

One of the most solid Mercs ever made.

I'm after an older Benz as well, I started out liking the W123/C123, W126 cars, and then I looked at the older cars...like the W108 or the W113 (I can dream :p ). Heckflo?en...mmmm...

Anyway, a W123 is a great place to start. My suggestion would be the C123 280CE, but I'm biased :p

My purse says get a 200D sedan AND I happen to really like old diesels
But in Texas you can get cars that are surprisingly rust-free, right?

Good car.

Yeah... but there could be worse.

I wish I could change the rims <_< but for that kind of money I'd rather take three times as much and get a cheap 123er.

And as shad said, only old and rich (upper middleclass) people have mercs here, but we have alot of them. With the bimmers it's a different tale, they are pretty affordable i think.

Booo! *feels excluded* :(

Just put some fake badges on it, and nobody will ever notice

Very nice looking car...I cannot believe you got it for such a great price. Maybe I should start visiting Germany :D

Welcome to the w1** club :p Don't feel bad Shad, your car is pre -95, so you are in anyway :p

I just found out that my car is a hybrid! So it must be good for the enviroment right?

How does that happen you ask?

Well it has one of the newer engines in it, the 220E which produces more horsepower and drinks a bit less but it doesnt have the facelifted body :D And in my book such a thing is a hybrid

Our cars may be rust-free, but the paint gets faded, the A/C is always broken and the interior is shot, i.e. cracked dashes and ruined seats.

I would rather deal with that than with rust, atleast you know what you're at.
You do not happen to be in some kind of student exchange program?

Actually...I'll be in Bonn this summer, I'll try to head down to N?rnberg as well as I have some friends there, so I might be in your neck of the woods. I don't think I'll be able to smuggle W124 panels on the way over though :p

These cars are everywhere around here. Cos they last forever.

When will you be in Germany? It might just coincide with next year's ringmeet....

From May-August :D I hope to go to the track meet or at least take one lap.

Just slightly off topic, Der Stig, are you going to Ornbau?

Uni Bonn. I'll be living with a family, so I have no idea where exactly I'll be.
