^ That's a myth. The larger fines (more than 26 km/h over the limit for example) are calculated in relation to your salary income, like a tax. Hence the hilarious large fines that make the news result from when millionaires get caught. Most fines however are simply on the same level as in other countrys. Furthermore, every fine under 250 SFr. has no legal repercussions at all.
