Starting sometime next week, I'll going to be able to work from home pretty much full time.

That may not excite some people, but I'm stoked about it. They gave me some nice Christmas presents too. A pair of widescreen monitors, a new laptop, and a docking station.

That's not a bad thing at all! While I'm not up for it (I need a separation of home from work), I know plenty who took WAH opportunities at my last job and love it.

Yeah, I can imagine some people needing to get away from home in order to work. Especially if you have a family or roommates or whatever. Luckily (?) for me, I have my own place all to myself, so it's a much more quiet environment to work compared to my office. The big deal for me is not having to commute, which takes up 9 hours of my time each week. So I get basically 2 hours back each day that I work from home. That's a big deal to me. It also means the 16-17 thousand miles a year I put on my car would decrease to about 2 or 3 thousand, assuming this arrangement lasts. I imagine I'll save quite a bit of money on gas, maintenance, and depreciation on my vehicle.

So yeah, I'm extremely happy about it. I imagine it will be a lot easier to get me out of the house on the weekends too, once the novelty wears off.

I get to experience the joy of working full time and taking classes! Aka I got accepted to a part time MS Mechanical Engineering program. On the plus side, this does mean that I now once again have a valid .edu email so I can get Amazon Prime for cheap!

I am leaving the ad agency! Signed my contract with one of our largest clients today, so it's officially official. Starting May 1st, I will work as a Product Owner for an online marketing firm. While this only switches me from the whirlwind of agency work into the whirlwind of "overgrown" startup, it's a lot more money in the bank and as I will lead my own team, I'll be in a position to make sure there's a strong second-in-command to cover for me so I won't be called every day while on holidays or sick.

Of course, it's not without sadness that I leave behind a business that I built from three to 30 persons within the last three years, but it really was time for something new.

Awesome! Best of luck!

This is the first of several steps which lead to the German version of the Yachtmaster Coastal cercification with the goal of being able to charter a yacht without the need of a hired skipper.
And this morning I took another step, passing both the written "knowledge" exam and the written "navigation" exams for the Sportk?stenschifferschein.. :)

Next up: one week practical training, followed by the practical test in the Adriatic Sea in a few weeks.
