I thought I would share some of the small progress I've made on my V12 Jag coffee stand.

Not sure if this is the correct place to put this post  as it didn't seem to go anywhere else <_<

Anyways, I just happened to find this block while surfing Craigs List at the airport I was flying into and called the guy on a whim. He still had the block and I was able to talk him down to $80.

Luckily, my rental car was a Dodge Magnum and had plenty of room to spare when I loaded into the back.

I reached my destination (brother's house) and dropped it off for him to have it bead blasted. I think it turned out nice.

Next up is to CAD out some of the standoffs to get the glass to the right height (seems to be 17" for a "universal" coffee stand height). And once I received the standoffs from the machine shop I'll be ringing up the glass shop to have a "boat" shape top (minor deviation from what TG uses for a top) cut and mounted to this sucker.

The GF hates this idea, but she doesn't pay the bills and thus has no veto power ;)

Suggestions? Comments? Enjoy!

Don't forget that they recently modified it so there is a light showing beneath it. You may also wish to have it clearcoated so the media-blasted finish does not tarnish/corrode with time and stays that same uniform color.

Dip it in chrome.

Maybe not chrome, but definitely some metallic finish. It looks like plastic right now. Or maybe its the photo.

A freind of mine had one with a neon light set where the crankshaft belongs. It was a cool effect with light spilling out of the cylinders and on the floor. His block was also painted.

I see a V12 and I want to paint it black red...

Seriously though, some color would probably help. I'd aim for something like this:

that idea still is superbad awesomeness... let us know how the final product looks like

Very cool. If I had one I think I'd like to have it with black chrome where vanMould's pic is red and use the 'light bulb as a crankshaft' idea, using either blue or white light.

I would give some suggestions, but I'm too busy wondering why that Jag block has such a deep skirt. Damn.

Ha, I've got '69 Chevy 350 block. I'd make a table out of it ... but I don't want a 2-300lb coffee table. And I'm too much of a redneck to render a stock-bore, 4 bolt main, SBC useless.

I have a spare Porsche 944 2.5L Engine block, thinking of what to use it for.
