Random Thoughts... [Automotive Edition]

I'll take vintage bare plastic or wood, or leather wrapped any day.

Definite no thanks to plastic. The Kangoo has it (admittedly cheapo shitty shit French plastic), and it is horrible to the touch, and so nasty. Nasty nasty interior in that car. :p

I have a feeling the plastic I'm thinking of isn't the same plastic you're thinking of. I mean proper plastic made 40 something years ago, when it was solid and didn't feel like plastic. Think resin, kind of.

I want to see someone mod an Audi R8 to have RSQ style reverse butterfly doors.

I have been talking about the Type-R break-in period with frankiess, so maybe he remembers where he read it from.

No clue.

Just remember hearing stuff in the Esson baari about people getting higher HP from CTRs that'd been given the beans in their early times. Nothing solid to back up my claims though.

Random thought: do DTM AMG mercs powerslide all over the track?

Group buy on the Honda Civic reverse-butterfly doors?

That's not 'plastic' in the modern sense, that's Bakelite.

Steering wheel in my Mustang is a Grant and its two pieces of wood sandwiching a metal ring in the middle. You have to be really careful grabbing that steering wheel after sitting in the sun for 8 hours. Ouch!

I get t same thing when I go to take out the key after a leaving my black car out in the sun then going for a short drive.

Never once have I seen the steering wheel referred to as bakelite- it's always a plastic wheel. It doesn't have filler in it as bakelite usually does either, so I'm doubting it.

Another one of my brilliant ideas.... Will a Dodge Viper V10 or a Chevy LS9 fit inside one of these....

I'm guessing that's a Mercury Marauder ? I assume the LS9 would be able to fit.

Almost definitely for the LS9, but doing that to a Marauder would be a crime when there are so many Crown Victorias (or Grand Marquis) available for practically no money whatsoever.

The Viper V10 would probably be a stretch, but I suspect you could do it if you really wanted to.

Anything will fit given enough massaging with money.

There's a red Karmann Ghia for sale two blocks down from me. I'll have to go look at it some.
