Well, I am going to Dubuque Iowa tomorrow at six a.m. and staying in Galena Illinois for the night. This would be the first time I have traveled on my birthday and the first time I have spent mine birthday alone.
Probably stare out at the Missisippi river for hours.
And so I did. Went first to
Eagle Point and scared myself silly because it is very high up, then to Clarke College to pick up a sweatshirt for the wife, then to Mount Carmel to stare off into the distance. I then went to a Perkins in Dubuque. My expericence from FacebooK;
Surreal experience at the Dubuque Perkins: I was the only one under the age of 70, the waitress ripped one in my face as she was bending over to serve a table, and the wisecrackers from the Muppets were in a booth behind me. So I got a fart in the face for my birthday.
Yes, she actually tooted in face, knew what she did, and that was the last time I saw her, another waitress came out to give me my bill. I left the dirtiest penny I could find for a tip. Then I went to Galena wandered around for a while, had a nut brown ale and enjoyed it on a patio, bought some stuff for the wife, and then went to my hotel.
Around ten p.m. I drove to a very unpopulated area, laid on the roof of my car and stared at the stars; I haven't seen that many stars in many years. I could actually see nebula's and galactic clouds, if that is the right term.
OK I'll bite. What about Sonia?
I took the whole week off, so she was unable to go, plus this birthday I wanted to be alone as to not drag others down with me, because I get very moody, depressed and dour.
