Random Thoughts....

Speaking of weather, 30 Celsius indoors sucks harder than a vacuum pump. And the sun's not even on my room yet.

But it looked like there was sun today...at least, I could see blue sky through the skylights at Chadstone...spent all day at work in a climate controlled shop. Would rather have had some winter sun.

I've just thought of something. It may be stupid, but meh. OK, so here's the dealio:

Chinese people have a problem with serving more food than they can eat. When you're invited for dinner in China, about 2/3 of the food will be wasted. It's a cultural thing: and the only time when it doesn't happen is if someone's eating alone.

So; why not send the leftovers to the starving, both domestic and abroad? Given the size of China's population, it could make a sizeable impact on world hunger. It will also increase China's influence in Africa (which they're trying to do) and it will actually make the country a socialist state like they claim they are.

I think that given enough funding, scientists will come up with a way to recycle and repackage leftovers into synthetic mattter cheaply and efficiently. Other countries could use this tech obviously, but with China and the way that Chinese people eat, the effect will be massive.

This is not a serious proposal and I haven't thought it through at all, it's just one of those "concieved-in-a-pub" ideas. But

Eat leftovers yourself. Don't buy as much food, so you don't have to send already cooked food to Africa. Africans don't want terrible Chinese leftovers, they'll just be hungry in 30 mins again.

That's actually a Danish chart. I like their predictions more.

Go Danmarks Meteorologiske Institut, go!

Yes we rule :p

Wait a minute - you mean, when I was a kid and left food on my plate and my mother used to say, "Think of all the starving people in China!" she was actually lying?

Especially if they're eating "sauteed happy family" from "King dong chinese restaurant".

I'm not bullshitting that is an actual menu item from an actual chinese restaurant in Berkeley.

Back in the starving Mao years, the government told people to do something drastic. Something radical.

Save your leftovers.

I once saw something similar to "giant crap" on a menu in Shanghai. Next to it was a photo of a carp  I took a photo of it, but I don't have the photo anymore. No idea why I never posted it on the interwebs :(
