Random Thoughts....

It's not really that hot compared to what it was earlier this year mind you. But still, it's crazy we're having hot weather in early November. Don't worry, it's suppose to cool down by Sunday. And I just agreed to work tonight.

Incredibly long story short, guy doing my braces has a theory about how a problem with my jaw can be fixed- he wants to try braces (differently to how he first intended to use them) instead of surgery, which he has concerns about in relation to the long-term benefits. Only thing is, it's one or the other, and I've already chosen surgery. Hence, I now am going to see another orthodontist in the same practice who feels that the surgery is still a good thing even if the other orthodontist's concerns are founded, but will not get in until to least January. Considering that's the timeline the surgeon originally envisaged, it's not too big a loss, but time is now a bit tight. It means that my braces will be done the way they should be for surgery now though.

So, anybody medically minded, is this "genetics causes bone to 'regress' back to what it was pre-op over time" that he explained to us as the reason for his lack of confidence in the surgery in any way substantial? If so, what causes it? I'm thinking not, because this sort of bone manipulation with plates/pins occurs in many other areas and you don't hear about issues with that  Things like bone lengtheing, scolisosis curve repair, etc.

Damn, I wish my dad was still alive, this is exactly what he did.

Go to a Periodontist and get an opinion from him, they specialize in gum and bone recession, among other things.

Yes, but I'm sitting in a room with no fan or anything, let alone an air conditioner.

Can I just say, all you Aussies whining about the heat, it's supposed to be getting hot where you are? It's coming on summer. Here in Austin it was 80F today. We're supposed to be nearly in winter. Other places in this country are getting snow, but no, not stupid Texas. We just get more heat.

Also, my AC keeps dying. You may have noticed this annoys me.

Yeah, my parents are thinking of going to see a general bone specialist and asking them if this a real possiblity. Thing is, most of the studies the orthodontist has done shows the majority only get 25-75% receeding back. That's still a 25-75% improvement, and in 10 years time I can always get it all fixed again if need be. Either way, I still se it as win-win so I'm jsut asking more out of curiosity.

80F is about 27C, which is pretty mild for around my area, we get that pretty commonly in winter. But yeah, agreed on the no air-con crap- we have "peak hour" charges on our electricity which means that you get charged heaps for electricity between 2pm and 8pm, which is when we used to use the air-con the most, but now my parents have taken the stupid remotes away and it's really annoying. Combined with no air-con in my car- which has been sitting in the sun all day- and I'm boiling.

Over the next few days (all in Celcius):
Tomorrow- 15-30
Friday- 18-25 (cool, yay!!!!)
Saturday- 16-28 (not good when I'm working- no air-con there now either and a ton of hot oil vats, grills, steam wands, etc)
Sunday- 16-32
And it will probably average around 36 in summer, but like I said, the coldest we get during the winters is about 15C, but that's early morning/late night.

Mum keeps yapping how she wants an air-con installed, but we never have the time or money to get one. So we just persevere. In Melbourne, our winters do get pretty cold (the standards that we get in Australia) sometimes doesn't go past 15C all day and even as low as 12. Because we're in the bottom left corner, all the rain passes us and onto the east coast, which is really annoying because we haven't had any decent rain (apart from September this year which was above average) for about 10 years or more.

It's been in the 70's HERE in Massachusetts lately. This is snow country!
I had all my windows down today. It's now, at 1 AM still 55. I have the fan in the window, my AC died months ago and mom says I can't have a new one <_<. (top down requires work when motor broke)

Yeah, well...

What? You joined three months after me?

You need more enters if you're pointing at your posts :p Tsk, tsk tsk. Ferrari guy would not approve, blake.

Nothing to be proud of really :p

I just noticed the double post, I don't quite know how it's happening since the forum doesn't allow you to post before 15 seconds I believe!

I need to buy a house overseas so I can permanently live in winter.

I hate summer so much.

Ferrari Guy makes his own rules, Jake.

(Except the ones about statutory rape and sexual harrassment. The City of Chicago makes those rules.)

Same here. We get little rain, most of it goes below us.
