Random Thoughts....

I can't even think of using it as anything other than gaming, trying it as a phone/camera etc = boring. I could go and buy one now if I wanted one, but have zero interest. Though the guys from work are getting a little sick of me taking theirs to play on.

And AiR, of course you're special.

Drinking at 1 in the afternoon at work FTW.

Data from Berlin show a significant correlation between the increase in the stork population around the city and the increase in deliveries outside city hospitals (out-of-hospital deliveries). However, there is no correlation between deliveries in hospital buildings (clinical deliveries) and the stork population. The decline in the number of pairs of storks in the German state of Lower Saxony between 1970 and 1985 correlated with the decrease of deliveries in that area. The nearly constant number of deliveries from 1985 to 1995 was associated with an unchanged stork population (no statistical significance). However, the relevance of the stork for the birth rate in that part of Germany remains unclear, because the number of out-of-hospital deliveries in this area is not well documented. A lack of statistical information on out-of-hospital deliveries in general is a severe handicap for further proof for the Theory of the Stork.

Aww, man - this is why I wanted to work at a start-up... instead of some big pharmaceutical company in the controlled substance division.

Unrelated to the quote: did you guys get alot of snow in SLC on the 13th? I was looking at the ski report and saw Deer Valley got something like 2 feet on the 13th.

Not that I know of - there's been a "heat wave" here recently. It's been in the high 30s/low 40s during the day time, but then again, it's the valley. The mountains have been different. (Gargh! It's melting all the snow!)

Here's the ski report for all the resorts, if it helps!

start-up?

I work at town/city hall.

I work at town/city hall.

I wish I can join you in the government worker inebriation. But I don't think the school district would appreciate it. :(

The view out Speedtouch's window looks like a Christmas card. :D

Also, kiki can score me more vicodin? Success!

IT'S SNOWING OUTSIDE!!!!!!!

(By outside, I mean outside the chalet where I am staying in Val Thorens, France. Not outside in Melbourne, Australia. That would be ridiculous. It's also the reason I haven't been on the forum in ages...I miss it!)
Any plans to go ice racing? :D
I cannot get an iPhone.

I have an addiction.

Bejewelled, Zuma, killing goblins, whatever games are available I am not allowed to own an iPhone. I must not steal those phones from others. I must put it down. Step away. Do my work.

Bejeweled is an eater of time. Yep.

Oh, I just meant in general - my friends who are at startups always tell of their endeavors... including one where the boss offered her some liquor to calm her down before her presentation.

Funnily enough, I just interviewed at a startup in Park City, where when I first walked in, dogs came rushing after me and part of the interview consisted of uploading facebook photos for the CEO. Good times. :)

But like argatoga said, government worker inebriation FTW!

I shan't go into too much detail, but I've always wondered what happened when you walk around one of our facilities without the respirator... :?

EDIT: just saw Ninjacoco's post...

Also, kiki can score me more vicodin? Success!

Actually... but I'll be debarred from working in Pharma ever again and the DEA will come after me...again.

Ah, the joys of working at a job when if you make a big enough mistake, you'll be charged with a federal felony.

Speaking of which, Kiki's back to work: stupid system started working again so that means catch-up time!

Somewhat related story. Back in the day my mother worked as a nurse at a hospital. Apparently it was not an uncommon occurrence to see some of the more "enjoyable" drugs mysteriously disappear.

This was back in 1970s Australia so I'm not sure if they freaked out as much as they would today over here in the American police state.

and the DEA will come after me...again.

heh. And that's how you get a plus rep from me. :p

Will you be getting a plaque or a police escort?

I will be getting a plaque shoved up my bumcrack, and then thrown off the 9th floor to my death BY police officers. :D

Actually I got my severely reduced paycheck this month of $1001.14 and I got a forced message from my annoying boss of "I appreciate the work you've done here". I could tell she was happy that I was leaving because when she said that she prefaced it by saying they've already found a replacement (which she said with a big smile). I could also tell she was lying because she stared at the floor when she said that to me.

More importantly my other 2 bosses are treating me to lunch! So that'll be most exciting.

I think the one thing that I've come away from this position is that for every dumbass and annoying boss that doesn't even credit your work as you do it, there's always the 1 or 2 bosses that are genuine, sincere, honest, pleasant, and more importantly appreciative and supportive. I do my work for those people, and for myself. Not for anyone else.

You had more than one boss? What the hell kind of job did you do?

Also:

Peter Gibbons: And here's something else, Bob: I have eight different bosses right now.
Bob Slydell: I beg your pardon?
Peter Gibbons: Eight bosses.
Bob Slydell: Eight?
Peter Gibbons: Eight, Bob. So that means that when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled, that and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired.

As always, when someone mentions the awesomeness that is Office Space, I have to mention that it was filmed across the street from where I currently work. My tiny claim to fame. :D
