Real drivers cars

Okay, you got me there. They aren't exactly the purest of track cars, but I guess it's clear enough ;)

And let's see...Novelty big boys toy = Noble
Kitcar roadster = Caterham
Thoroughbred sportscar = Atom

Nope, they go like this:

No supercars, no expensive sportscars, no track weapons, just 'ordinary' cars that you might have parked in the drive?

Well done.
The Atom is obviously intended as a summer toy for rich boys to take out on a Sunday to hoon around the countryside in, getting flies in their teeth.
The 7 was designed by Chapman as an easy to put together kit option for people who wanted a nippy roadster for hooning around the countryside in on Sundays (the fact that it is 'too fast to race' is a bonus).
Noble's latest M15 was designed as a proper spotrscar alternative to the heavy, boring German and Italian alternatives like the Porsche 911.

Superb taste you have

There was a time when all the Peugeot were great handling cars:

Sadly that "magic" is gone. :(

I would like to point out that the mondeon OP posted is a 3rd gen (even though the 2nd was barely more than a facelift)...

Drivers cars. I had a hoot driving my army roommates pug 106 rallye, what a little spicy rocket that was. 115hp on a lightened 106 body with proper handling.

I am a little biased but a 5.4 litre naturally aspirated V8 putting out just over 410hp cant be bad.

The mascara that it wears is a bit strange, but awesome car none-the-less. Wish we got them here in the states. Ironic that Ford is an American company, and we don't get any of the good cars.

I'd say that an old Land Rover is a drivers car, it meets all the criteria:

- Unreliable
- No power steering
- High fuel consumption
- Expensive to run
- Noisy
- Makes you smile every time you drive it
- Has good handling

No guess which one isn't true.

DO WANT NOW INSTEAD OF VXR8!

Actually if you can forgive the GIANT blind spots, the Beetle is basically a TT in an ugly suit (same chassis) and it is not a bad car to thrash.

an ugly suit with an uninspiring engine :p unbelievably even more ugly if you order it with the handle (if that's even an option anymore, I assume so since I've seen so many with those horrible things here)

My nomination? Classic cars in general but since we're going on a lot of bias in this thread, I figure I'll continue. :p

1967 Mustang Coupe (or any 60s mustang)

Nothing gizmo-y between you the car and the pavement. Every input is the result of your action. Earlier models were lightweight (coupes), lighter even then their fox body followers due their basic design and limited interior items that add weight.

Stock chassis and suspension are pretty much dreadful but will some chassis stiffening, replacement of stamped steel suspension bits with some parts that don't flex and a good rack and pinion you'll have yourself a migh tighter fun car and you can feel proud of yourself when you're able to drive it fast. Fun as hell to drive even if it is slow!

Ok that's a decent amount of work to make it a driver's car, oh well! :p

Also, of all the classic cars competing in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb the classic mustang was used the most by far! Here's one

Nearly any American former police car

You can buy one for $1000.
They can be kept running with only the most basic maintenance.
Thay can be driven hard without breaking.
And if you get bored with it, you can enter it in whatever happens to be the next event at the local short track to destroy it.

And you'll never be cut up on the road, because everyone will think you're a plain clothes cop. :D

oh god I hate the blind spots, on the bright side i have learned to back up my car without looking. This will come in useful if I drive a supercar in the future.

On the other hand, tonight when I DID in fact take my car out for a midnight drive those spots didn't matter, I've got the convertible
Unfortunately because it is existentially a german alfa of (looks, falls to bits, but at least it has character) the top motor no longer works so I have to put it up and down manually, which means I fell backwards over my seat when i tried to put it up. Damn you Peggy. Bitch beeped at me when I was trying to put it down too.

I personally prefer the handling of the F6, but thats me.

It is a handful for those not used to turbo engines though. Power piles on unbelivably fast! Absolute hoon to drive.

Yeah the F6 handles a little better and is a bit quicker but I couldnt say no to being on the open road and just have it idle while it chewed up the miles.

And the sound is unbelievable.

Is that the same engine as in the Cobra R? Pics?

If you're talking about the falcon GT-P, they come with the 5.4 litre engine, not the 4.6. Unfortunately they are not supercharged.

The 2000 Cobra R had a 5.4 DOHC naturally aspirated V8 with 385hp.
