Almost everyone sleeps in a tent!
Beat me to it, tenting is key. We had our own little tent city going last year.

i'm working on a TV production until May, might be a decent payday in the end, so maybe this is the year i'll finally be able to go to the ringmeet. Especially now that i've tried some different ways of getting to Germany by car, it's actually a lot mor affordable than i had thought, and shorter, as there's a Ferry from a nearby town going to Denmark, I used to think i'd have to drive all the way around through Sweden and such.
What are sleep options around there? what do folks usually do? hotels?
Kristiansand to Hirtshals is a fun ride on the multihull, especially with a few metres of waves... everyone around you ing, and every impact there's a loud CRASH from the car deck...
Last year I slept in a hotel due to being there for the first time and with my wife and kid, but after seeing how well equipped the campsite is (Wi-Fi, showers, bathrooms, even a baby bathroom), I'll be tenting from now on. Maybe even with the family if I bring them again.
The campsite in question: http://www.viktoria-station.de/index.php?L=2&id=7
The hotel was nice though, staff was friendly and the breakfasts good. It's also in a comfortable walking distance from the campsite. Linky: http://www.gasthof-faltin.de/
I'm on the west coast, so i can do Stavanger to Hirtshals, it set out at 8pm and arrived at 8am, last time i took it. So it'd leave a day to get to Germany.

I've never been tenting before.. so it'd be a challenge... but probably worth a try for the wallet
Didn't Adrian do it in 10h?The BIG road trip crew drove from Hirtshals to VS last year. Took about 12 hours with a couple of stops along the way for fuel/food and whatnot.
One the one hand - Adrian. On the other hand, Google Maps says just over 8.5 hours without considering traffic and breaks. So it seems possible, but I wouldn't recommend aiming for it without a second driver.Didn't Adrian do it in 10h?

(I did it slightly slower than him)
Oh right...Yes, but Adrian.
We started around 10ish (IF i remwmber correctly).Starting Thursday at 8am you get a range of 08:50 to 11:30... seems reasonable.
I drove it and My friend "enjoyed" the trip....One the one hand - Adrian. On the other hand, Google Maps says just over 8.5 hours without considering traffic and breaks. So it seems possible, but I wouldn't recommend aiming for it without a second driver.
