RWD hatches!

That told me. I was only young when they were around and they looked similar. I think the same about the Euro Escort/Orion, probably wrong about that too. :D

Ahpadt: While it may be a grey area, we all know what type of car we're talking about.

God I wish they'd sold TVRs here (newer ones). I'd kill 15 babies and 19 elderly for a Sagaris!
Oh, and I do like the new XK...

Wait TVR didn't sell their cars over in the US? I thought they did, just they were ridiculously expensive here because about 4 weeks ago I was driving my cousin's SL500 Merc on PCH when one came out of no where next to me.

Stop chopping my arguments up. And I dont care. Its my opinion.

And it's my opinion that Norway is in Africa. Doesn't make it so.

1 door: Peel P50
2 doors: Coupe
3 doors: Hatchback
4 doors: Sedan
5 doors: Hatchback / Wagon, depending on the length.

EDIT: On second thought, a hatchback should probably have 2 rows of seats to be called a hatchback....

The Escort mk3 and the Orion mk1 are very similiar cars, the Orion is basically an escort with rear doors and a slightly longer wheelbase :)

But whatever. Another pointless thread - feel free.
Then by all means stay the fuck out of it. Like I said in the very first post in this thread, I'm not going to argue specifics over what is and isn't a hatchback. You know very well what I'm looking for here.

They did sell them here but only until... 86 I believe. So no Tuscan, Sagaris, Tamora, etc.

There was a serious attempt to import them again recently, but I don't think anything's ever come of that beyond a couple sneaking in from Canada and a couple of "official" imports run in by the would-be importers (who, IIRC, have recently closed shop).

Additions:
Ford Euro Sierra/Merkur XR4Ti

YES! Finally I can point something out to Spectre! There was never a RWD Euro Escort hatchback, apart from the concept rs1700t. The RWD Escorts, Mk1 and Mk2 were both either 2/4 door saloons or estates, not hatchbacks!:p

Ah, sorry, I was thinking "Sierra" and typed "Escort" for some reason. I'll go fix it. Apologies for the error, good catch.

Edit: I know why I typed Escort. My home security camera monitor shows the ass end of one blocking out most of the view of my camera watching the front walk (someone's moving out.)

You're still forgetting the 80's Mustang and Mercury Capri. They weren't all hatches, admittedly, but some were.

No, I'm not sure why I care about the Fox Mustangs, fond memories I suppose.

Does anybody remember this?

The Mohs Ostentatienne Opera Sedan.
(The hatch in this case is the cars' sole means of entry and exit.)

It's so ugly, I blocked it from my memory.

Well, when you mentioned the Bricklin SV-1, I just had to find something even more odd.

BTW, what's with the gullwing doors on supposed "safety" cars? Did anyone ever stop to wonder how you were going to get out if you're on your roof?

Some of the prototypes of various gullwing cars had a hidden T-handle or loop pin you could pull and the entire door would just come off. Dunno if that ever made production in anything.

I think the DeLorean was set-up to have the windshield easily removable when such a situation occurred.

The rear hatch of the SV-1 was engineered to be a safe exit route in the event of the car coming to rest upside down.
Of course that's assuming the fiberglass body doesn't get torn apart during the roll over.
It's also to be noted that because the SV-1 was poorly engineered and built, the doors tended to leak, and the hatch can become the only way out of the car in the event of an electrical failure.

Well, if a Crossfire were cheap enough, I'd go for it. It's not a very good car, but at the right price it'd be a quirky appliance around here..
