Show us your Lego!

If anything, this could pop the 'Lego at stupid prices' balloon, or at the very least defleate it a little, the original UCS falcon has become such a posterchild for the lego investment movement, to see it's prices tumble might make others think twice about the sets they are sitting on 'what if Lego re-releases mine next?' causing them to panic and sell for less, prompting a chain reaction....

I never expect any big set to drop below original retail though, not even close to it, but the days of 20x retail could be behind us.

So it's here: New LEGO Star Wars 75192 UCS Millennium Falcon unveiled as largest LEGO set ever/

Well holy shit, look at it:

800 USD/Euros is a bit too much though. Can't justify spending that on a single Lego set.

DAY. ONE. PURCHASE.

It's everything we hoped for, more detailed, better cockpit, an interior, only slight issue I have is the meager minifig selection, I'm not a minifig collector by any means, but would it have killed them to throw in a Luke, a Lando and an R2 just for completions sake? That would have made this the perfect set.

Also, Lego, remind me again why this is 50 bucks more expensive here than it is across the border in Germany, and a full 150(!) more than in the UK, inbetween here and there is that puddle they call the North sea, not the Atlantic! I can almost get on a ferry, drive to London, buy it, drive home and still be better off, it will take me a day and I will only make 5 quid or so, but still..... unfair pricing policy.

Will get this, and the UCS BB8, and that's the Lego budget for 2017 gone

Don't remember if I mentioned when I wanted to, but its applicable right now. My typical practice is to open EVERY bag and dump EVERY piece into one giant pile when I build sets. This really backfired when I built my 2,793 piece 42043. I probably spent more time digging for pieces than actually building. My brain hurts just thinking of doing that with 7,541 pieces.

That said, even though I claimed I'm not going to do that again and will only build bag by bag, I think I'll probably end up dumping everything into one big pile when I get around to building the 2,704 piece 42056.

isn't that just the belgian store taking more profit?
or needing more money to pay it's employees compared to over the border?

Nah, it's the same if you buy online direct from Denmark, besides, our wagetax-gap is substantial, but not that substantial....half the people working in Wijnegem are Dutch anyway...

I want the new UCS MF so badly, but I have no idea where I'd display it  A piece like this deserves its own case.

And for the price I can buy 42056, BB-8 and parts for a nice MOC. Hmm...

I have just seen it in the brick, it's honestly a thing of beauty....it's not pretty 'for a lego set', it's the best damn MF sculpture ever concieved.

Lego store will have 10....TEN on release day, goddamn false rarity bullshit, if ordering online fails I need to be there very early, or rob the place.

You know if Lego ever come up with a Star Wars themed, build it yourself Fleshlight the internet will explode and I for one will watch my shares go through the roof.

Creating a hole for all the nerd cumshots to escape the building.

Just saying.

:p

I'm sure someone somewhere allready did....

As someone who looks at the nerd community from the outside in, admittedly stepping deeply into it on moments like this, yeah, yup, pretty sure somebody already did.

Also Lego does not have any private shareholders :p

Did you get a hold on one?

Nope, well I did but it's on backorder, thanks to lego's website beeing a steaming pile of massive failure....by the time I got it working after it crashed (as usual with any big release) estimated delivery time was Oct 1st and it was already to late to go to the store....
Hey lego, remember those 1200 people you want to lay off? Start with the Goddamn IT department!

Oh well, more time to prepare a spot to actually put the thing I guess.

too bad. Noticed that the online store had a limit of 3 MF's per customer. I guess that would somewhat limit the scalpers.

So euhrm, as a huge Lego fanboy, and I'm not even trying to deny it, I will tell you all this, officially, on the record :

LEGO IS ROYALY PISSING ME OFF!!!!!

I'm about 1 ignored email away from selling the whole damn lot, replacing it all with Lepin, using the remaining cash to fly to Denmark, and set all of them on fire, twice.

Also using large letters REALLY fucks up the quote systhem :p

Tried to order the UCS Falcon at launch, as predicted they fucked that up, not enough stock, catering to scalpers, their site crapped itself, so far par for the course with any big release they do lately, at least got to backorder one before it went 'out of stock' compleetly, no problem, to be expected, if anything we, 'the fans' created this mess with all the hype and the impatience.

But it's what's been happening after that that should make them ashamed of themselves as a company witch prides itself on customer service (and has exelled at it in the past).... people with backorders have been getting production and shipping estimates, first backorders have been shipping, customer service helpfull and welcoming, people have been noting this on the specialised sites and forums, this mess is getting resolved......
Except apparently if you are me, e-mails go unanswered, picking up the phone forget about it, nothing, you could think this is a local problem, if it was not for the fact one of my mates ordered his 5 minutes after me (when the site finally worked), lives 10 miles down the road, and his just shipped today....meanwhile I'm still waiting on an estimated production date!
Come on, I'm not trying to make a complaint, I'm not after money back, I can wait a few weeks, I don't want to be unreasonable, all I want to do is spend money and have an idea when I could be able to do so, and quite a wad of it actually, I haven't been threated this bad as a consumer since the last time I flew Ryanair....

So euhrm, sorry for the double post but this is slightly embarrassing, 6 days after my above post, an annoyed looking postman dropped a huge heavy box on my doorstep.....the Falcon had landed!

Still sorta annoyed about never getting an estimate or an acknowledgement, only a shipping notice a day before, but you know, sod it, it's here and a lot sooner then expected.

Right, the box, it's huge, it's heavy and it's FULL, hell if Lego had done their normal thing with sizing boxes to be only filled 3/5th of the way, this thing would have been impossible to carry for an average sized person.

The build, I can hardly believe I'm saying this, but I think we reached the point where a Lego set is TO big, looking at the stacks of bags is daunting, and you are talking to the guy that rebuilt last years technic BWE in one sitting.

However the build IS fun, first comes the frame, which is just old Technic beams with plates holding them together really, but it does give you an idea about the size of this thing.

Next are the landing gears, 7 of em, all identical, that's the only time the build gets repetitive and after that you get the build the interior rooms, who are just a treat, they give you the first clue on just how detailed this thing is.

After that it's the engines, along with the frame for the front mandibles, and covering the bottom with plates, it's at this point the ship has it's shape, and you start to notice lots of detail, escape pod tubes are next, the main hull top cover, the cockpit, and finally the top gun turrent......

Holy crap that was a big build, never boring, always well thought out, but there is just so much of, it took all of my spare time minus working and sleeping for the better part of a week, and while the build is fascinating, near the end I was all legoed out...
If you can build this over a couple of weeks, maybee a month in a dedicated buildroom where it is not in your way, wonderfull. But I don't have that, and buildiing it, along with all the bags, the giant manual, it all takes up A LOT of space, so to get my living room (and the bloody kitchentable :p) back I had to finish it.....a bit of a slog, a fun slog, but a slog.

That all pales though when you see the thing, it's perfect, just plain perfect, as a StarWars fan I know and love the Falcon, and this is the best damn representation of it I have ever seen, greeblings, details, more greeblings, everywhere! Every visible surface is covered in details, and details on top of that, it all holds together well, straight, no drooping, hardly any gaps, it's the pinnacle of lego building techniques, it's like the Mona Lisa, Bohemian Rapsody or a Veyron.......it's the very best of what people can do within a given medium.

It all looks so damn good and so damn much like the 'real' thing, it's epic....and then there's the size of the thing, I have the original UCS Star destroyer (10030) and while a very early UCS set so not quite there on details and building techniques compared to modern sets, it's always managed to hold it's own against the likes of UCS Slave 1 on the awesome scale by sheer brutal size and bulk.
The falcon makes it look like a childrens toy.

Is it worth 800 bucks? Hard to say, the concept of a 800 buck building set is still batshit crazy, but let me tell you this: I work for a living, I'm not wealthy, there are a dozen things I sorta need and could have used that money on that would have a practical application, not something to just put on a shelf, but if I didn't get one I would never forgive myself, and if Lego does another UCS StarWars set in this pricerange, and it's that good? I'm so there again!
