Our GM dealership (the largest in the state, they sell about 100 cars a month) unveiled their 2010 Camaro earlier tonight. Unfortunately it's only the RS model (read: V6), but what do you expect? Here are some pictures of the event and the car.

They had 6 or so older Camaros around, one of them a Yenko with non-original, but correct engine.

Not bad looking, but I still don't care for the front end. Too pinched.

Sea of plastic.

There was a bit of discussion recently in a couple other threads about problems with some of the engineering, mainly the brakes having weights stuck on and the battery cable not being routed smartly. I couldn't get under the car to see the cable routing, but it appears that from the strut tower it ran down and along the drivers rocker panel under the car. No weights on the brakes here, but the RS model may have different brakes than the SS, honestly I don't know.

Interior isn't bad looking. Back seats are the standard for Gumby legs only.

Sticker for those interested. This one wasn't sold yet, but probably will be before they close tonight. Priced at $28,030.

I really really like this car.
Thanks for the pictures.

I like the exterior styling much better than the Mustang and Challenger, but the interior is a little weird to me.

I guess this one had no lead weights on the brakes? I don't see any.

See Chrysler, this is what happens when you do full out production of a highly anticipated car. You don't have a ridiculous premium on a base spec model. I do love that interior, however seeing no proper transmission in there makes me sad.

Its decent. Can't say I really like the full front view or full rear view, but it has a nice side angle. Again, I prefer the interior of the Mustang. And if I do ever get a muscle car, it needs the growl of a v8

The RS has standard issue GM brakes that they've used for 20 some years, the SS has Brembo brakes (and wheel weights on them).

Welcome to the USA!

Why people buy cars like this with anything but a manual transmission is beyond me. There's a small dealership in a neighboring town that has a silver 5th gen out front, I should go check it out.

Nice pictures and thanks for sharing but...automatic. Ew.

There are some who think automatic is the only way to go for drag racing applications, and in the ridiculous end of it (<9sec) there may be some truth to that.

(Although i like my 6 speed just fine :) )

What is with everyone putting engine covers on? It bothers me it's like looking at a badly made model instead of a real car....

I'll take the Yenko thank you very much :p

Just a minor update, driving to my last class this morning I passed the Camaro coming fresh from the dealership with temporary plates on, so it's been sold.

We had the Camaro unveiling here in Glendale, AZ. Both cars were already sold, so they didn't allow any test drives. Sorry for crappy video quality, I was using my cell phone...

Fantastic looking car. I really like it!

Makes Syracuse look down right cosmopolitan. Um honey do you want to do something like go to the symphony or the jazz series or we could watch the lacrosse finals? No lets go to the car dealer!

This car could have saved GM if it had come out 3 years ago when they first showed the concept. Even then they would have gave a significant portion of the market to Ford. The reason why they showed the RS is because the SS was recalled. I think that they will give a lot of the market back to Ford when GM goes into bankruptcy.
