To be honest I don't really feel like it. Don't feel the urge to convince people Bush wasn't that bad just as much as I don't feel like convincing other people Obama isn't that bad either. It's like fighting a brick wall in most cases.

So lets just agree that the Tea Party are extremist, self-indulgent wankers, syrup, etc.

I agree, but so far all we've seen is that there are enough of them to screw up some primaries. I'm interested in seeing what happens when you put candidates like O'Donnell in a general election. For example, Castle had that senate seat. He was polling at least 10% better than Coons. But right now, 50% of Delaware would vote for Coons over O'Donnell. And only 35% said they would cast a vote for her. That's a bigger deficit than she overcame to win the primary.

While it does seem more out of hand than usual, this happens with every president. The interesting thing to me is that the far right isn't just going after the president, but what they see as RINOs too. Shit, Hannity, Rush, Palin and Malkin are going after Karl Rove after his comments about O'Donnell on Hannity's show. Karl motherfucking Rove, The Architect, Turdblossom is now not conservative enough.

He didn't even say anything bad about O'Donnell, he just tried to give a dose of reality to the teabaggers. O'Donnell is not electable, there are too many skeletons in her closet, too many unanswered questions about her. Funny that many of the pundits who love to spout about how independent and free thinking Republicans are have been telling Rove (and others with his opinion) that he needs to "buck up" (Palin), swallow his tongue and support O'Donnell.

I've got two theories on that;

1) In general, Muslim nations possess much stronger central leadership (both in secular and religious power structures). These structures exercise much greater influence and direct control over the day to day lives of individuals. Because of this, less-educated individuals expect that the same must be true elsewhere. They expect central leadership to have influence and control over all facets of society and individual actions. So, in this case, they blame Obama for the Koran burning that never happened.

2) They just like to set shit on fire. Who doesn't, right?

There might be something more general to that.

Tea partiers hate "the Washington insiders", right? Karl Rove made the Republican establishment. He's the "Washington insider". It makes perfect sense for them to go against him, if you think about it.

I can see that. There are probably a number of people who've been waiting for an opportunity to rail on him. This just gave them a reason. Gave people an opportunity to show how cool and teabaggery they are, railing against the Beltway insider.

Of course he's now completely walked back his comments like a good party hack, claiming that O'Donnell can win and saying he got the NRSC to give O'Donnell 42 grand.
