So far, the attacks seem to be still ongoing. The French President has declared a nationwide state of emergency and ordered the borders closed.

yes, It?s gonna be a while before we?ll get a coherent picture.

Personally, I?m just glad the people I know who live in the 10th Arrondissement are safe at home.

France has closed all it?s borders and in Paris and Ile de France a state of emergency has been declared.

No, I live in Paris. But (*knocksOnWood*) this is all pretty far away from me. I was just worried about friends of me who live not far from two of those sites and who I know usually go out there Fridays. I was watching football on the TV when they said 5 minutes before the end "we?re having a special broadcast after the match about something that?s happend in Paris".

Very very serious. I wonder if this might finally push France and/or Europe to set out to finally mop up Syria and strike at the root of the problem...

Can I just ask that nobody feed the occasional islamophobic troll? This thread is not supposed to become yet another flame war and almost all of us realise that the "Islamic State" Daesh abuses and perverts that particular religion.

Of course I haven't got anything against pointing them at the perpetrators. I objected to yet another round of Muslim-bashing.

Which I was not doing. I merely pointed out that journalists and politicians are so far refusing to call out the group that we all know is responsible. You're the one that made this political and you're the one that made this about "all Muslims" in yet another pathetic attempt to paint me something I'm not. Stop making this personal - this has nothing to do with me.
