The 2020 elections, news, and discussions

How dare they!

How are they hypocrites? There is nothing wrong with being successful, the problem is rich people that weasel their way out of paying their taxes.

Warren and her professor husband pull in almost $1mil in income annually. Maybe a third of that is from book sales. So basically they're using capitalism to make millions while pushing socialism and complaining about millionaires. Can't make this shit up!

As far as paying taxes goes, I already addressed that this week in the income inequality thread. Then again, you probably didn't read it.

I did read it, and you pointed out how they hide income and assets to keep from paying taxes. You also seem to think that is okay to do.

Then you just don't understand it. No one is maliciously hiding income. I'm guessing you don't invest a lot, eh?

Take the car write-off example. No one is hiding assets... The law allows you to write off vehicles used for business. It's not some sort of loophole used by the evil one pahcentahs, you just don't understand how it works.

It's always amusing to hear millionaire 1%'ers preach about the evils of income inequality, while they roll around enjoying all the benefits of it, like a pig in shit.

It reminds me of a recent incident where Bernie Sanders was talking about all these greedy rich people and all the cars and yachts they own, but for some reason he didn't complain about all the homes they own. I can't imagine why.

Is it illegal? If not then I fail to see the issue.

It is illegal to not pay taxes, so hiding the income and assets would be at least shady.

It must be accidental then. I mean why would you want to hide things that would be required to pay taxes on? Oh, right, so you don't pay taxes on them. If it were above board and, you know, LEGAL, they wouldn't be hiding them, there would be no need.

If it was illegal the IRS would be throwing people in jail left and right. Like, every single small business owner would be in jail lol

That article pointed out how the ultra rich avoid paying the full taxes and penalties with lawyers. I bet those same lawyers work just as diligently to keep them out of jail.

It's just basic accounting. If you can make a reasonable case why your car is used for business, then of course you're going to do so and lessen your tax burden. It's both common sense and perfectly legal.

Let me give you another example. If you live in MA on the border with NH, you know that you can get gas at the local station for $2.50/gal or drive 50 yards into NH and fuel up at $2.20/gal because NH doesn't have a fuel tax, would you do it?

There is a reason many NY'ers fill up in NJ, or why many people will go to big malls outside of the state to avoid sales tax.

@GRtak when you file your taxes, do you claim anything on those taxes or do you pay absolute highest possible?

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LEGITIMATE DEDUCTIONS. THEY ARE FUCKING OUTRIGHT CHEATING ON TAXES.

If you don't see that, then you are blind.or a willing idiot.

Do you have any evidence of that?

Actually, scratch that - let's make it even easier. Without even backing it up, can you explain how exactly they are "outright cheating on taxes"? You don't even need to say who specifically, just what they're doing to perpetrate this "cheating".

What exactly do you know about this "outright cheating" that the IRS doesn't? Go on, tell us.

I'm guessing you have no g-ddamn clue and that your entire knowledge on this topic can summed up as "the CNN anchor told me to have the rich". Ironically, I pretty much know exactly how the rich get out of paying extraordinarily high marginal taxes and, as I've been saying, none of it is illegal and it's pretty much entirely ways that ordinary people can also use, just on a much different scale. But prove me wrong, let's see what you got.

Go read that article again. You don't make a mistake that accounts for $1.2 billion.
