Going to hook up my gaming laptop to it and use that as a media server.

Works like a charm :) 1080p with no problem & is actually amazingly snappy in use.

Yeah I thought it did too! But when I opened the box earlier today - NO Money!!! - I Feel like I got ripped off -.-

Bought an LG Optimus V. Decided to screw sprint when they wanted an additional $70/month to add data to my line that already has 700 min and unlimited messaging. $35/month for unlimited data and messaging sounds good to me.

Initial impressions of android: best mobile OS I've used.

That's crazy, it should be around $70/month total for all that.... unless Sprint has changed drastically since I signed up. I have to admit that's a screaming deal from Virgin Mobile, I saw the same thing advertised and thought it would be perfect for me except for the less than amazing devices on offer. If they start releasing decent Androids I'm on board.

I wish those carriers would allow use of unlocked phones.

My original plan was to get a nexus s on sprint but the optimus v is perfectly fine for me. I'm still in college so I dont really need the latest and greatest phone. This one will be perfect for android app dev as well.

Finally picked up the x220! Sorry about the pictures, it was a bit dark in my room.

Documentation that came with it, even less than my SR had:

Only has a 65W adapter, I heard it throttles the i7 option, and possibly the i5 option I bought (2540M):

Thoughts: I'm still getting used to the keyboard, but I love it so far. The screen is beautiful, I got it with the Premium IPS screen. It feels very solidly built and doesn't cave easily like some parts of my SR (the plastic around the touchpad). I like that it has a touchpad it's not giant, but it works for the size. Once I get either a USB dvd optical drive I will probably reinstall Windows 7. I don't own a flash drive and I'd have to probably buy a more expensive one for installing Windows 7 by USB.

Stats I can remember:
Core i5 (second gen) 2540m (2.6ghz dual core)
12.5" Premium IPS screen
4GB ram (will probably upgrade later)
320GB 7200RPM Hitachi HDD
Intel HD Graphics 3000 (lul, it scores better than my SR's ATI GPU due to having better ram, etc, but my SR will run more games of course)
6-cell battery
.. And some other stuff.

You only need an 8GB flash drive to install Windows, so getting an optical drive would be more expensive.

Well then I might do that. I haven't actually looked up the prices for either since I haven't had much time (and still don't, I have to go shortly here soon again). After turning the X220 on I can see why everyone re-installs 7... It has 80 processes running from the factory. There isn't too much crapware installed so that is a surprise, but I don't need some of the processes running (for the webcam for example, I don't have one).

Oh yeah, and I may also get an SSD of some sort in the future. I don't need a ton of space, I mainly use my laptops for internet stuff/youtube/school research. I bought it because I'd like to have a light laptop that is very capable with a good screen. (I haven't even noticed LED light bleed on the screen so it's excellent.)

(Future planned upgrades: SSD, 8GB ram, get a decent mouse.)

Oh, and turned on photo:

Mmmm Business Laptop goodness! Congrats Moogle, that looks like a great machine. If I didn't have to buy a car, I'd be replacing my 5 year old Latitude with either another one or a Thinkpad or MBP.

About reinstalling Windows 7: Lenovo's unique in that they partnered with Microsoft to do something known as "Lenovo Enhanced Experience:" http://www.lenovovision.com/amp2/landing.htm?fid=Win7_video_enhanced_experience_pcs_10_2009&locale=en-us&

Click video 2!

The videos on that page explain in detail, but basically, they've made pretty significant performance tweaks to their drivers and such to reduce boot and shutdown times and make the system faster and more responsive.

What I'd be worried about is if Windows would pick up the unique EE drivers and optimizations or not.

This was the main reason I rulled out the ThinkPad as my machine of choice. Styling was another consideration but it wasn't nearly as important as ability to play StarCraft II :D

Sennheiser HD558's + Firestone Fubar IV plus
despite the price I am still positively surprised by what they're capable of

also: they're extremely comfortable... been wearing them for 3 hours straight and for most of the time completely forgot i was wearing them.
