The "New Toys" Thread

funny people. :D

leaving on friday already... been here for a month to visit relatives. some of those were gifts as well and yes we didn't come here just to shop. Saved up and we kinda knew what things we wanted to buy before coming here so instead of buying it in the land where everything is overpriced, we waited patiently and got them here :D

I only did that with clothes on my USA trip back in march... I still fainted upon receiving the credit card bill 2 weeks later...

Why does airmail from HK take 25 days? Must be birdfreight. Or a pair of bats tied together. Mail by balloon? Come on HK Post.
I love you HK post, it didnt take 15-25 days (quoted ETA), it took 10 incl. saturday and sunday. Here is my new HTPC-friendly keyboard, the Rii Mini Elegance RF Wireless backlit keyboard with touchpad and laser pointer version 2.0. High resolution pictures for everyone!

Who knew such a thing existed! The code is for validating the product online, it checked out. Do not know if the dripping is related to chinese water torture or if they may genuinely make you disappear.

Inside the neatly packed box. It warns me not to fire mah lazer.

No keyboard is complete without a really bright laser! Do not worry, I am not greek.

It's so cute!

Rii, meet your bigger brother. Be careful what you say to him, he doesnt have backlight, a laser or a touchpad like you do. He might be jealous and sit on you.

Backlight in the middle of the day is moderatly successfull.

I was waiting for this to drop into the mail like a child at christmas, I was very excited and I am more than delighted to say this is the best chinese product ever, even better than the 808 camera! It's great! Touchpad is great, the 90-degree tilt function (hold it like a remote) shifts the orientation of the pad and the arrow keys, the keyboard is nice, works straight away (and doesnt conflict with the Microsoft keyboard and mouse) and it's just so cute! ??? w?rks too altough obviously they're in the wrong place (;,). And this for 222 SEK (which is probably something like 5 USD these days (?25/$35) with shipping from HK, it's great. I ordered mine at Pandawill.com. Just beware that they have about fifteen different versions of this keyboard, if you want a genuine you either need to get one that looks like mine (notice mouse button keys) or if you want the Bluetooth version you'll need to make sure the serial no. on the back starts with Rii. Riitek also has a handy quick reference guide of fake keyboards on their website (altough the iPazzPort is supposedly very good).

It's so cuuuuute! For the Swedes, they sell this very keyboard (altough v1.0) at Dustinhome for 795:-!!!

Hmmm, a bluetooth one of those might be very handy, I've taken to plugging my tablet into my TV for video recently and been using a woefully short range mouse.

New lens for me:

Just in time for Ringmeet:

https://pic.armedcats.net/d/d-/d-fence/2011/07/28/canon_sx230-550x374.jpg

THIS

Sent the other cam I ordered, Nikon L120, back, waaaaay too chunky and too few settings. This one, I already love after fondling it for 2 minutes <3.

I have the very same one minus the GPS feature since it's pointless to me... Very very impressed by it in the last 6 months or so.
It has an awesome zoom feature, captures HD video brilliantly, and has face recognition dealies
Only thing I'm kinda bummed about is the battery life (battery pack, so no quick switching, and is gone after about 100 pictures with flash)

Upgraded my DSL connection the other day:

It's supposed to be 20 mbit, but it's still faster than my old 4 meg connection and costs less per month, so I'm not gonna complain.

I am quite happy with it, currently running the battery in. Nevertheless, I ordered a second battery pack (Proper aftermarket 9?, so meh, just get it ;)), just to be sure. The 120 FPS SlowMotion feature is quite nice too...the GPS I definitely don't need, but I got the 230 for less than a new 220 in Amazon warehouse because the cardboard box was scratched....who cares. :p

Testshot I did yesterday on full Auto:

Pretty impressive for a tiny P&S.

Here is a test of the Camera against the other "superzoom" P&Ss and it basically wiped the floor with them :)

I sold the Xoom I bought in April, and bought a white 16 GB iPad 2 with Wi-Fi (with a grey case like the one posted below).

pstam_ipad2_white.jpg

How do you find the smartcover? I'm debating whether to get a knock-off one and a shell for the back as I love my current leather case but it easily doubles the weight of the iPad.

do they still make those MP3 player thingies that are basically just a USB drive with a hole for a headset and a teeny tiny screen? One of those in 4 or 8GB size would be fine, but I can't seem to find one, and the (very) old one I have is just 256mb which is laughable

surely 10 or 15? gets you 4 GB nowadays, why must I order a Sansa Clip that's only 2 GBs for 49??

(okay that one has radio and a memory card slot but is still way overpriced imo...)

Indeed, the Sansa Clip+ is $40US new for the 4GB, and I've seen it for $20 on refurb.

Just to be clear that was not a specific endorsement for that product, just the first cheap decent looking one I came across. They're fairly common over here.

20 for a refurb? Where?
