Dell XPS M1330
CPU: C2D T7500 (2.2 GHz 4 MiB cache)
GPU: 8400 GS (128 MiB of dedicated memory + 767 MiB shared)
Display: 13.3" 1280x800
RAM: 2 GiB
HDD: 250 GB

Total price: 6190 Riyals (USD$1650)

It's a little heavier than I'd like (4.2 lbs according to Dell; The LED backlit version is thinner and lighter, but not available here), but since the only laptops lighter than it are either more expensive (9500 riyals for a decked-out Vaio SZ) or come with much slower ULV processors and integrated graphics, I'm glad I bought it. I also have to say that, after using it for a few hours, I think that 13.3" is the perfect size for a laptop: you still get a full-sized keyboard and a decent-sized screen, but it's nice and compact and easy to carry around.

As far as performance is concerned, I'm fairly impressed. It obviously doesn't play Crysis well, but something like Portal plays perfectly fine at 1280x800 on high settings, and HD videos play smoothly. The laptop came with some nice goodies, too: a fitted case, leather CD/manual folder, media center remote, in-ear headphones, and a microfiber cloth for the screen. It also came with a three-prong power adapter, so I don't have to worry about odd, tingling sensations. ;)

This laptop is also the only Vista machine in the house, and, playing around with it, it feels very much like XP did when it was new and I was trying it out for the first time (i.e. a quite positive experience). It's only bluescreened on me once so far, too! :p BSoDs aside, Vista's staying for the time being as I see how much I like it as an everyday OS, but as soon as Ubuntu 8.04 comes out, I'll be setting it up for dual-booting.

I just bought myself a new computer.

Specs.

Intel E6550
Ati Radeon HD 3850 512mb Overclocked
2gb DDR2 ram (so far, run out of cash)
Abit IP35-E motherboard
Antec Sonata III 500W
Seagate 160gb sata harddrive (I have one IDE 160gb drive and 500gb usb2 drive also so don't need a bigger one)

And for display I bought a Mirai 32" HD ready TV. Some day (when I get some money) I'll propably buy a regular 22" LCD display also but for now this will do.

And for the TV I got a Vision digital receiver with 80gb harddrive.

I would post some pictures but they are SO crappy quality that your eyes would melt :yucky:

My 6 yo nephew got one of those from my gf when she visited. I, of course, put it together. :D

I have the old Lego F1 Ferrari, great fun to build.

Bought a 4 port USB hub today as I begin life with my laptop until I get my PC fixed or buy a new one.

both of those better be vibrators because dildoes don't belong in the technology section
What if they were like carbon fiber and magnesium alloy dildoes? Would those qualify?

sounds like something VBH would use if she was bored on the motorway.
