The (quality) rap music thread

It's decent, I might even download it. ;)

I listened to my fair share of Eminem when I was about 14-15, but the only song I still like is the one from 8 Mile (which I never even saw).

Dre is the fucking man, though I really hate 50 Cent. I thought he was dead already.

Nah, Dre is fucking lame, all his tracks are ghostwritten. As for Em, not too spectacular a song, but some of his old stuff is insane epic lyrically.

Have I posted this before?

But it's rap music... I don't really look for originality, just good rhymes and beat basically.

Plus, I really hate modern hip-hop. I can pretty much only stand old school stuff, which kind of ends with Dr. Dre.

Go back farther to Eric B. and Rakim.

This is a thread I'd never thought I'd contribute too, but here I am.

Jurassic 5 - A Day at the Races (ignore the video, this has the best audio quality I could find.)

DJ Format feat. Jurassic 5 - We know something (best video ever )

I'll give them a try, thanks.

I didn't mean to say Dre was the oldest rapper I listened to, I meant I like old school and he's in a way the last of the old school guys still around - in case I wasn't clear. :D

I'm sure most people know this song already, but I just saw the music video this morning, and it's definitely an epic good song... one of the first rap songs I ever listened to as a kid.

I got one more....

Madvillain AKA Madlib & MF Doom

MF Doom's flow is just so unique and epicly good.

And now for something more recent but not too recent...
Killer Mike - A.D.I.D.A.S. Ft Big Boi & Sleepy Brown

EDIT: OMG! I forgot that Terry was in the Killer Mike video!!! Terry is the girl at 2:15 with the #3 jersey dress on. She was a local stripper back then that I built a porn web site for. LMAO!

Surprised not to see any Cannibal Ox in this thread.

I've been listening to "The Jacka - The Jack Artist" for almost a year now. A lot of music has come out since then but that CD has never really left the CD tray. It's one of those things that went completely under the radar in 2005. If you ask me it was one of the best releases of that year. Unlike most CD's released there's almost no filler material an there. You can really listen to it from end to end.

Another release I've been to listening a lot lately is Dirty Acres by CunninLynguists. Another solid releasy by another overlooked group.

I'm sure most people who know anything about hip hop will know this song, but I just happened across it on shuffle, and it is one of the best hip hop songs ever made, imho.

Where have you been? They even played it on the radio A LOT. :p

Anyhow, you might get a kick out of the "What they do" (captioned version) video.

Yeah, I know it was famous, that's why I'm saying most people will know it. I just hadn't heard it in like a year or two, until it played on shuffle today.

Shall check the vid out.
