I'm sure most people who know anything about hip hop will know this song, but I just happened across it on shuffle, and it is one of the best hip hop songs ever made, imho.

Top Gear used The Seed once I believe... I think somewhere in the Veyron race? That's when I discovered it.

I the old-ish days I always had a thing for french rap..

A Prince Among Thieves by Prince Paul.

It's a Hip Hop soundtrack, concept album, story album, a radio play or whatever you want to call it. It tells the story of the upcoming rapper Tariq and his struggle to get a deal with the Wu in 35 songs and skits with lots of features.

If you're even remotely interested in Hip Hop and don't mind sth. different for a change I recommend you to check it out.

Here's a medley of the songs:

I shall look into getting that.

Speaking of Big Daddy Kane, how is it possible that I haven't posted this song yet? (At least I can't find it in this thread anywhere)

It's off Soul Supreme's album "The Saturday Night Agenda", and apart from the insanely good Soul Supreme beat, it has excellent lyrics by Checkmark, and once again proves why Big Daddy Kane is one of the most influential heads in hip hop.

EDIT: The dialogue at the end... is that sampled from a movie? Does anybody know what that's from?

Great CD, one of my favorite road CD's. Hard to put in and listen to a random song but great if you have a whole hour to listen.

I just discovered this little gem... I love new old music!

Much better than "Jump". Video is like a low cost live of San Andreas.

Jay-Z @ Glasto 2008, nothing but respect for the guy. Love the way he just disses Gallagher by playing Wonderwall and 99 Problems is just an epic song.

Tobias is an anal rap artist though, even more specialized.

"Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball, and you join your mother...in death. You don't understand my words, but you must choose. So... come boy, choose life or death..."

Jay Z is without a doubt (imho) the greatest one of the most overrated rap artists ever.

His first album was excellent, the next 10 weren't.
