"Top Gear filming in UAE" [Turns out to be the magazine, but 3 Veyrons!]

afternoon gents,

just to confirm what you already know - that there was most definitely 3 veyrons playing outside on the roads

This is from one of our local papers

Photo shoot goes into top gear

ABU DHABI Psst, buddy, can you spare me a sports car? Yes, evidently, three of them. This weekend Top Gear, the UK-based car magazine, which is in the country for a photo shoot, sent out an urgent request for an unusual car, the million-dollar Bugatti Veyron.

It was hoping for one. Instead, it was offered three of the vehicles, which cost more than Dh4.4 million (US$1.2m) each. ?No other place in the world could we have found three Bugattis in a span of 48 hours,? said a relieved Charlie Turner, the creative director for the magazine.

The cars were tracked down by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and belong to local owners who wish to remain anonymous. Built by Volkswagen, the 1,000-horsepower vehicle can reach 407kph. One car in the shoot, a gleaming aluminium-bodied model, is one of only five in the world.

The Corniche area and Jabel Hafeet were briefly closed off for the shoot, which featured the Stig, Top Gear?s mysterious, overall-clad driver.

Top Gear, paired with a BBC television show of the same name, sells more than a million copies a month.

ooh, those hills are reputed to be one of those greatest driving roads this side of the hemisphere :thumbsup:

The road is a great drive - there is a hotel on the top (Jabel Hafeet), and one of the Royals' palace further up, right on the top.

On a clear day you can see the whole of Al Ain city and the surrounding desert.
 
To point out the obvious, that's for the TG Magazine and not the TV programme, that we know of.

TG Mag has done articles in the UAE before - at the launch of the Range Rover Sport, for example.
 
Yeah, the fact they were only looking for one, didn't have one pre-arranged, etc. smells more like magazine-only rather than both magazine and show.

Still awesome though!
 
Mag probably but if you are Andy Wilman and you Mag mate rings you up and says "I've got three Veyrons - do you want to bring the boys over for a shoot?" you can guess the reply. ... So ask the owners nicely if they can borrow them one more time and Bob is Your Uncle. Nice chaps to let their, very expensive, motors be borrowed like that.

OMG!!! They'll be mad not to have the boys in them. Although I can see why they wouldn't but let's hope so.

^ cos it looks like it's just silver and grey to most of us
 
But even the article mentioned that it was a special edition. It didn't mention that it was a Pur Sang, but there have only been three special editions of the Veyron that I know of and only one of them was unpainted aluminium.

A CCX vs Veyron comparison would be fantastic if it was on the show.
