TopGear Live World Tour 2008/2009

I'm going to the NEC on the 14th (Friday). I'll be wearing my FG shirt and I'll have my camera with my (I've got a longer lens and a gorillapod this time so hopefully I'll get some decent pictures. :)

Has anybody had the thought that this might be the beginning of the end for for Top Gear? With the multiplying franchises and now a live show I get a whiff of unsustainability.

I might be completely wrong as the show would only be on the road for two months and they probably have a lot of spare time between seasons.

They've done a live show at MPH for years so I don't think doing some shows around the world will cause any problems.

I got an e-mail with a MPH t-shirt being sold.
Since the dates/places are on bloody t-shirts now, does that mean no other locations?
Or am I just blowing this whole 'If thy words be set in stone t-shirt, they shalt not change!' thing out of proportion?

id say its completly the opposite the branching out of the franchise is proof of how strong it is obviosly the shows premise works enough for the UK version alone to be a world wide hit and now local versions are being made to try and hit the local markets more directly then the uk version does if these fail they just get cancelled and the UK version goes back to being the only one

the live show is simply the uk guys taking there shenanigans on the road to get the show even more fans and a greater market more a show of smart enterprising then failure.

on that note i got my tickets for the live show in the mail the other day i shelled out the extra $20 for preseale tickets to ensure i got a front row center seat (well second row a little to the side but hey)

pity james may wont be there but the shows still goin to rock

Agreed. :)

At the launch on Tower Bridge, one the BBC ?suits? was quoted in the press as saying that Top Gear was one of the BBC?s 20 primary worldwide brands.

It is because of its worldwide appeal that they are giving the brand a push.

This is not shameless commercialism or desperation, but brand building, IMO.

It looks like James isn't going to join Richard and Jezza then. :(

Hopefully it means he will be too busy filming a new series of something.

TopGear isn't ending, they are just scaling back to only 14 episodes per year.
