As an uncertified fortune teller I hereby predict that a pair of these will be installed on your car during Ringmeet.

I checked the oil level some days ago.......well, stick was dry. So today I added 1.2l (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) to top it up again, didnt check when I bought it.
According to Blackman these beasts eat oil like mad, 0,5l/1000km is possible. Got to watch this in the next weeks. Interestingly, it was missing over 1l of oil and no light was on...

Also, I attacked the tons of rockchips with an ebay paint pen, which worked quite well:

I got to get that dent removed at some point, but right now, not motivated to do it.

Dude the oil light is for oil pressure not oil level!

You need to use the dipstick, you dipstick!

Yeah, I noticed, my previous cars had a yellow oil warning for level and a red one for pressure.
I assumed the Mini was the same, it is not.

Yeah, german brands have oil level sensors. Brits are still too primitive. :p

Probs not. It's "Stick of metal that will work until the end of time" versus "How do we know if the sensor is dead? I know! ANOTHER SENSOR!!" :D

That and, you know, that particular Mini is about as British as a Sauerkraut Empadão :p

Sometimes my sarcasm is so advanced, people think I'm actually that stupid.

1.2 liters, nice. How much does it hold in total? Being a 1.6, probably somewhere around 4,x liters?

Well, at a red light I noticed my car breathing smoke like a dragon out of the hood scope, and when pulling into garage I left oil drips.
Not sure right now if it is

a) me spilling stuff (which I did)
b) me overfilling (stick level is at max)
c) what blackman had, oil leaking out of cap due to bad o-ring

I will get a new O-Ring and observe.

The dragon breath feature I like though, looks cool. Also does it in rain when water is on intercooler.

As discussed PCV valve is another possible reason. I’ll check mine as well... these things just like to leak oil...

Well, the oil fix has worked. Ran the car hard for 1500km through Italian mountains, minimal oil consumption. Car really really comes alive there, I could keep up with a Boxster GTS up a mountain pass (he disappeared on the straights and I tailgated him in the next corner).
