Toyota Celica GT-Four (ST185)

st185-1.jpg

it took Toyota to the manufacturers Campionship in 1993 and 1994

plus 3 drivers chapionships in 1992 (Carlos Sainz) 1993 (Juha Kankkunen) and 1994 (Didier Auriol)

i also like it's successor the Celica GT-Four (ST205) even if toyota was banned for cheating

You already forget Hyundai had an Accent rally car on the WRC circuit for a few years? They showed WRC on the Speed channel back then, remember? It was AWD and 300 hp, but since it was a WRC class car, they werent required to make the street versions have the same specs

I remember the rally car, I bought an Accent (as my first car) and was thinking of modifying it up to the rally specs... then seeing all the work involved and the money; then I started thinking: "It's a Hyundai...", I bought an Impreza to modify instead :p

The Subi got my vote!

Followed very closely by the Focus, the McRae/Grist car was beautiful.

^^ Dude the gt-four isn't a WRCar, thats the corrola...

Persoanlly I really like teh original subaru WRCar from, 97/98... but after that the P2000 onwards, much less like...

yay, first vote for the cordoba. Loved the underdogness of it and my favorite driver in it. En Garde

I voted for Toyota Corolla WRC because when that car was participating in WRC series I always kept my finger crossed, especialy for Sainz. I remember that last 0,5 km when his corolla broke down and he didnt won the title :(

Seing as older cars are included in there, I have to say Ive always found the Corolla quite charming for some unknown reason.

The man speaks truth, WRC regs only came into effect in 1997. The original Subaru WRC car was awesome. The 05 Mitsubishi WRC is probably the wildest looking WRC car, shame it was so shit.

Currect Focus is also very mean.

On another note, T'booted....you and I share the same mechanic. I enjoy having a look at the Audi everytime I am in there, tell Robbie to get a move on :p

yup won't see it there anymore, well not till it breaks again... or i sell it, it is currently living in my garage... 9and woo hoo i fixed the remote, so the door opens and i can get it out!!)

I think the Subaru Impreza WRC

This particular model:

The 1998 Monte Carlo version:)

If the name of the topic would rather be just "rally car" I would vote for either the Lancia Delta S4 or the Lancia Stratos

there was no lancia WRCar...

I think you guys are missing the point, this is the pole for WRCar, there is anopther pole for group 4 cars, and i seem to remeber a pole for group B and group A, and then when an amount of time goes by, there will be a pole for best rally car, which i would assume will be the winners of the previous poles, like qulifying or quarter finals... get it...

But for lancia from memory, fulvia, startos,(group 4) 037, Delta S4,(group B) delta HF, integrale (group A)

This man speaks truth. Glad to hear the Audi is back up and running!!

Subaru and Petter Solberg, teh only reason why im watching WRC.
Seriously, X2.

And watching Engineering the World Rally meshed me into this whole "Petter & Scooby" thing.

To Svempa :

Where did you get those cars' pics anyway ?

It's too bad that the best people in the team were their cooks. Their dishes (specially their paellas) were envied by all of the other teams. I would have preferred they had hired less competent cooks and more competent engineers, though :)

As for the cars, my vote went to the Corolla, only because Sainz was about to win his 3rd Championship in it. But I'm the first to admit that the Corolla is nowhere near the most important car of this era.

...but... then again you could say the the corolla was teh first REAL WRCar, the escort was just an RS with a different rear wing, and teh impreza wih 2 doors missing and teh bonnet scoop sealed up... whilst the corolla may have taken the driveline from the gt4, there rest was all new... especially the gearbox...

(admittedly there more to it than that, but for the sake of my argument, thats all there is to it...)
