What's your mobile phone history?

Seeing the old beautiful 3210 so many times in this thread made me remember every detail of the purchase. Had to actually go to the Mobile Provider's HQ, there were no small retailers (nowadays you can buy prepaid packages at petrol pumps), everyone was so quiet there, like you were about to deposit 1 million euros into a super secret hush hush bank account on Mars. And the way the phone looked brand new...

/me googles for used 3210's...

1) [April 2000 - ? 2001] Ericsson T10s (this color)

Ericsson-T10.jpg

2) [? 2001 to May 2002] Ericsson R320M (In red)

3) [May 2002 - December 2003] Sony Ericsson T68i. Great little phone, a girl in my class bought it from me, she still has it as a backup phone.

4) [December 2003] Ericsson R520m. I had it only briefly for about a month, until I got my new phone.

5) [December 2003 - December 2004] Sony Ericsson P800. I really liked this, as it did all I needed a phone to do at that moment (Music player, phone and reasonable camera) it also had the touch screen functionality that rendered my Palm Tungsten T useless (I still have that too, somewhere...)

6) [December 2004 - May 2006] Sony Ericsson P900, same as above, just a bit more elegant and slightly better. I still have it as a backup phone.

7) [May 2006 - December 2007] Sony Ericsson W810i I really liked this phone and it performed the task of being phone, camera and music player very well. It must be a good one as I see lots of people having them everywhere. Unfortunately mined died during the party after our final exam before Christmas, but I got a new one from Sony Ericsson under warranty, so I still have it laying around as a backup phone.

8) [December 2007 -->] Sony Ericsson W960. All around very good, the Walkman player was a bit of a hassle to get the grips on in the start, especially as I use playlists, but I discovered that those can be made from WinAmp on my laptop.

Too lazy to search the pics:
Sony CMD C1
Alcatel 701 (switched after 3 months because of the third imminent repair)
Siemens ME 45 (awesome, still works)
SE T610 (switched after a year because of 3 repairs)
Nokia 6230i (sold after 1 year because I could get a new one)
SE D750i (had it replaced and then sold it 6 months early because the oner below was availible)
SE W950i (almost a year now)

In the market right now: Iphone, don't need GPS, good Cam, UMTS, just a phone with Touchscreen and a good mp3 player. Plus WLAN is a nice extra...

Started off with this thing:

406_5.jpg
(Alcatel OT320; probably from 2002-2003 onwards)

Then there's one which had no SIM card.. and for which I can't find any photo anywhere on the Internet. It's disabled now.

Currently, I've got one of these:

nokia-6070.jpg

And I don't feel the need to upgrade to anything else. It's not like I'm using it for all kinds of stuff. I just need something to ring my parents when I'm coming home from school and in all sorts of situations.

This is all I remember I am sure I forgot some.

Samsung VGA1000 from sprint that was my mom's old phone.
Then a POS Sony Ericsson z500a that wouldn't hold a charge from new and was a miserable little brick.
Then a motorola pebl in black which was a brilliant piece of kit, gotta love that hinge.
Then a motorola razr V6 Maxx which worked great outside the US, but never well here.
Now I have a a RAZR2 V9. It's the best parts of the V6 with functionality in the US. I am very pleased with it.

Can anyone tell me what your provider is for that nice Sony walkman phone? I have wanted one because I use my phone as a music player too but these LGs are shit for it other than the chocolate but that thing I hate.

Dig this, I've only ever had two cell phones. Both were cheap Nokias that my provider gave me with my plan. I avoided cell phones until 2002 when I became self-employed. I still only use my cell only for business calls. I rarely even carry it with me when I don't have to. You see, I'm old school. I remember how it was before cell phones came along. People used to notice the day around them.

Same here man: I always just use the cheap Nokias that they give me. All I do on my phone is talk (who would've thought? lol) and mostly just listen to voice mail when my clients call to bug me, so I really don't need all the extra bells and whistles that the more expensive phones offer.

10th/11th Grade: Nokia 5100 or something - AT&T
https://pic.armedcats.net/2008/08/15/5110i.jpg

Antenna broke while in the cellphone slot in my backpack, and had to get a new one.

12th grade:
Nokia 1260 - AT&T
https://pic.armedcats.net/2008/08/15/1260.jpg

Changed to a new phone because I needed to change to a different service and plan. AT&T was fucking us over and was going to charge us astronomical amounts for using my phone up at Berkeley to call San Diego. Verizon had a better deal and we stuck with it. Parents also slowly moved to verizon afterwards.

Freshman year @ Berkeley:
Samsung SCH-a650 - Verizon
https://pic.armedcats.net/2008/08/15/sam_a650.jpg

This lasted for 2 years until one day (for no reason) the LCD separated itself from the rest of the flipphone and it was holding up by 1 thin wire. I had to hold the lcd and hold the keypad separately.

Junior year @ Berkeley: LG VX5200 - Verizon
https://pic.armedcats.net/2008/08/15/lg_vx5200_cell_phone_1.jpg

Great phone, got a cable so I could have custom ringtones as well as take pictures and transfer them without paying exorbitant fees. The phone started eroding from the inside :?, the battery started losing its potency, the LCD was getting corrupted on the left side and it was lagging like crazy.

Now: Samsung Gleam - Verizon
https://pic.armedcats.net/2008/08/15/Samsung-Gleam-U700-cellphone.jpg

https://pic.armedcats.net/2008/08/15/Samsung-Gleam-U700-1.jpg

https://pic.armedcats.net/2008/08/15/samsung_u700g_verizon_z2.jpg

I fucking love this phone. It's so small (smaller than a razr), got a 2 MP camera that does video, a slot for a memory card, VZ navigator, live wallpaper, plays mp3s, does a whole bunch of other stuff, and it's SHIIINY

I've always wanted to get a nice phone, and I've wanted to buy it with my own money. Since I got this summer job, I thought I might as well do it. Absolutely love the phone.
