A company just came out with a wheel stud conversion kit for my car, which originally uses wheel bolts.

Outside of the convenience of not having to hold the wheel as you put it on, is there any added safety benefit to using studs and lug nuts?

Personally I think they look much better, but I can't comment further.
(Wishes he had wheel studs)

Stripped studs are easier to repair or replace than stripped wheel bolt holes.

I found this thread while searching for something else.

Beyond Spectre's comment (below) which is probably the most logical reason to replace bolts with studs...
Stripped studs are easier to repair or replace than stripped wheel bolt holes.

There's also the generally accepted truth that it's a lot easier to install and center the 'new' wheel/tire with studs. This is especially true if it's dark/raining/snowing!

I've replaced the bolts on both my Mazdas and my GLI with studs. It's an upgrade I've never regretted making!
