Not agreeing with the way they go about it. When I had the XA it was a good week if I wasn't getting pulled over for defect inspections or some cop leaning heavily on his belt (that usually got a shock when he got to the window and saw a chick). But young guys in cars have a tendency to die behind the wheel, and it's not just them they are taking out.

Depends on the part of Australia you go to. My area is basically dreary grey England with a slightly hotter summer.... and possibly even more chavs/bogans/rednecks, if that is even possible. We also have glorious tumbling down abandoned factories and homeless folk wandering the CBD ranting about the government stealing our DNA for nefarious purposes, burnt-out historic rail signal boxes and an empty community hall some crazy Melbourne developer once wanted to turn into our own regional version of Crown Casino.

I would purposefully drive around at 4-5k RPM in my Viper just to piss the cops off if I lived in .au. The car is 100% stock -- let's see them give me a ticket for that.

They gave the guy who owned a Gallardo around here a defect notice for it being "too low" when it was completely standard and a mate of mine got one on his Yamaha YZF-R6 for being too loud. Also completely standard. They seem to be making these rules up as they go along because they don't like the look of you or your vehicle of choice.

Yep. Mr. Gallardo took it to court - rightly so - and got it taken off but the cops still hassled the hell out of him.

If it looks at all performance-oriented they will try and find something to smack a defect on it for, even on a completely stock-standard Lambo that looks like it came fresh from Sant'Agata. Ironically though he's replaced it with a typically bogan VY SS Commodore because he couldn't afford to keep the Lambo on the road.

The sad thing is viper, they don't have to prove that your car is unroadworthy, it is up to you to prove it is.

So they pull you over and give you a defective vehicle notice saying your car is too loud, even if it is legal and you have to go get it tested to prove otherwise.

this comes from a country that has laws such as "excessive acceleration" where you can be find because the individual officer deems you accelerated too quickly. there is no benchmark its simply if they say you did you wouldve have to go to court and prove otherwise.

There are laws here that allow cops to be dicks too. I got pulled over for what was called by the cop "exhibition of speed" for leaving the light faster than he thought I should. The minivan next to me pulled away from me at the light, so I told the officer that it would be pretty ridiculous for me to get a ticket when his camera would show I was innocent.

Thanks to movies like The Fast and The Furious glorifying our street racing scene we started getting this same treatment 15 years ago.

Anyone with a Harley or American muscle car didn't have to worry, but if you had a Civic with a cat back exhaust and 1" drop then you were likely to get popped.

It got bad enough that they were busting up public meets and trying to accuse us of street racing. In Los Angeles county that means your car gets crushed.

Thankfully we've now started getting the cops to realize not all of us are asswhipe AMG driving Armenian bros. Who do burnouts in public places.

This meet always got busted up by cops, even when nothing wrong happened. The local businesses saw the money they were making from this and told the police to stop doing it.
